My plan would be to put NeatDesk squarely between a small filing cabinet and a paper-shredder. All non-junk in the inbox would be scanned, and tax-related and other important documents would then go in the former, while ephemera would be run through the latter. Backups would be made via TimeMachine and Backblaze.
I refuse to be at the mercy of the Paper Monster any longer!
March 4th, 2010 at 8:15 am
I want to reclaim my office. As I sit and read this I am surrounded by a pile of receipts on my desk. In a filing cabinet there are envelope after envelope full of receipts. I plan on going back in time to the beginning to scan my receipts. I may need to buy a new NeatDesk by the time I am done!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:19 pm
Being a small business owner, I never make time to enter all expenses into a spread sheet during the year. I end up in a mad panic at tax time and spend hours data entering. It would be so much easier to scan receipts as they come in and then shred them. Also, it would free up about four inches of space in my file cabinet as I wouldn’t have to store paper receipts any longer.
March 4th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
I have piles and piles of paper that I could scan and destroy my Paper Monster!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
MISSING: One brand new desk/computer work station, brown in color, last seen under a pile of paperwork; bills, reciepts, business cards, monkeys, oh my!
OK, so the NeatDesk will not help me with my monkey situation, but it would certainly organize all of my papers and help find my desk. Ta da, NeatDesk to the rescue!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
My current filing system is a drawer full of thrown-in receipts from last year. I’m scared to open it and see what’s inside! NeatDesk would be a complete lifesaver for me!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
My Professional life is one of presenations, staff meetings and executive meetings… in others peoples offices. I have CHAOS — Can’t have anyone over syndrome in my office. I promise to scan and file and trash the mounds of paper and receipts preventing me from having the office of my dreams. Every year I find receipts that I should have submitted on my taxes after my taxes have been filed, in fact my office is a holding place for missed opportunity. I say no more ineffiency, bring on the NeatDesk!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:22 pm
Did I mention it would be NeatDesk for Mac?
March 4th, 2010 at 3:24 pm
I am the research dept for my small business and I have 5+ boxes full of news clippings, printouts, receipts for books and other source material stored in the basement on wire shelving. I also have two more upstairs that I am working out of right now. For tax season, I could finally claim my losses on research materials instead of losing the receipts and never filing….:(
March 4th, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Both my wife and I own our own businesses and accumulate a massive amount of receipts and documents and business cards. We are pretty good about keeping records in our file cabinets, but come tax time we have to get all that stuff out and invest hours in going back through everything. Business cards is a whole different matter!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:29 pm
Help! The paper monster is eating me alive. I have a small organization with a part-time secretary. Here is my dilemma. I hate paper but I hate to get rid of the information it has on it. Paper requires filing and sifting for information when it is needed. Your system could help me slay the dragon and be a more productive.
March 4th, 2010 at 3:31 pm
I will scan items as I receive them rather than trying to find everything and sort through it just before the tax appointment. I will feel like I’m on a relaxing vacation in my own office with the wide expanse of a clean desk.
March 4th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
I feel like I spend the first 10 months of every year avoiding organizing my paperwork for taxes, and the last 2 months trying to catch up in time to prepare my filings. The NeatDesk would help me solve this problem … making it easy to keep up with things throughout the entire year. Right now my desk is a complete mess … but for a space I have reserved for my NeatDesk scanner.
March 4th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
My situation is different from most, if not all of the comments I just read. They are all drowning in paperwork. I made the decision a few years ago to eliminate as much paper in my office as possible. I now do it with a basic scanner and some Google software, but it is time consuming and not as effective as I would like. The NeatDesk is the absolute answer to my problem. It will allow me to finally catch up on the back-log and also allow me to file my taxes without an extension!! It is, without question, the best piece of office equipment to come along in years.
March 4th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
I dream of a paper-less office. NeatDesk, make my dreams come true!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
I would love to use NeatDesk to quickly and efficiently organize the inspirational pictures, notes and articles I am constantly gathering. And I’m a Mac user
March 4th, 2010 at 3:39 pm
Living in two locations while I try to rent one house out, and open up a new business sure has created a paper monster. With NeatDesk I would be able to carry atoms instead of molecules, making access to organized information easier, not only at tax time, but all year round.
March 4th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
Here’s the thing… I no longer use my desk, I ride it. It’s nothing but waves upon waves of receipts, correspondence, corporate papers and the detritus of my wife’s self-employed life, our small rental biz and my day job.
I am tempted to take the wakeboard and see if I can’t grind some of those tasty waves and stacks of papers. If I do this however, my wife may very well kill me. So you see, this is not only a matter of a “neat desk” but it’s probably a matter of life and death as well.
Please, send NeatDesk to save my sanity and my life.
Alternately, bring a wakeboard and we’ll ride this great pile of paper together!
Best regards,
Surfer Chuck

I would use it as marriage therapy. Alright, I hoard paper-no closet, it’s just out there! In fact I swear it breeds especially when my husband travels or we move with his work. For my husband every piece of paper has its place, he handles it once when he opens the mail and immediately files it in binders, shreds or recycles it. But his shelves of binders compete with my piles of receipts, bills, etc. We are preparing for a series of overseas moves which will require being able to have all important documents, medical records, tax info portable and light to carry along with the two kids and three pets. Help!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:47 pm
I am the owner of a marketing company and I have wanted one of your Neat products for awhile now. I have at least 10 projects going on at all times and piles of notes, ideas, business cards, things to add to this or that, and the list goes on and on and on. I would put a NeatDesk to great use!
In terms of my taxes, it would be great if my better half, who is also in the company would track his expenses a bit better so that those write offs and reimbursements get recorded accurately. My bookkeeper and tax guy would appreciate it too!
March 4th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
I have a beautiful oak wood grain desk. I think. I haven’t seen its top for a while now. Co-workers and cleaning crew are afraid to come near it, something about, “It gets larger every week! There might be something living in those piles of paper!”, and finally, “It’s evil and it must be stopped!”
I’m afraid I may fall asleep at me desk and never be heard from again. I’ve recently taken to wearing a note pinned to my shirt saying simply, “Help”
March 4th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
A NeatDesk system at tax time would be a lifesaver, not only for organizing the receipts involved in my business taxes but also for sorting all the charity and medical records involved in filing my personal taxes. A NeatDesk system would also be handy for scanning and filing all of the neon-hued sticky notes that currently litter my desk zone and my computer screen. My co-workers are neatniks with perfect desks so my rainbow paper plastered space is a blight to their sore eyes. With NeatDesk culd banish all of this clutter from their view and never lose a precious sticky note again!
March 4th, 2010 at 4:01 pm
I just finished a huge decluttering project in my home office and then tax time arrived! I finally got everything into 6 or 7 huge envelopes, but the flaps wouldn’t close - of course I dropped them and…you guess the rest. I wish I had the NeatDesk today!! Then I could just hand my tax preparer a jump drive. I’d use that nifty little thing every darn day!
March 4th, 2010 at 4:07 pm
Neat Desk belongs in the Bedroom ! Here’s what I mean - when I come home form work I pop my laptop onto a small desk in my bedroom where I usually catch up on late emails, I also dump the receipts, stubs, slips, and bills out of my pockets. With Neat Desk I’d zap those buggers thru and be done with it !
March 4th, 2010 at 4:07 pm
I think this would be a very useful product for tax time. Not only could I use on a daily basis to scan in reciepts etc so am not worried at the end of the year were reciepts are and has the print on the faded an no longer legible… but I think I would also use it to scan in documents for previous years so that I have electronic copies of all my documents.
Recent natural disasters show that if we had to evacuate quickly due to earthquake or fire (I live in California) I could quickly grab my small hard drive and get out without having to worry about lugging a large box full of old tax records out of the house.
March 4th, 2010 at 4:11 pm
I am the VP Finance and Treasurer for two (related) non-profit organizations that work to encourage females in technology fields here in Michigan. We do that by running multiple initiatives: Summer technology camps, after school robotics clubs, and web-design contests for school-age girls, Scholarship and grant programs for women purusing higher education in technology fields, and Continuing education programs for working professionals.
We are completely volunteer driven, which means, anything we do is done out of the volunteer’s homes. I’ve automated the bookkeeping, financial reporting and tax prep work as much as possible, but the paperwork we are required to maintain is consuming my tiny little home office.
Receiving this equipment would allow me to move the routine transactional filing and other record retention to an electronic format. This format would make the records searchable for other volunteers, thus improving our efficiency and their access to past financial information, and reducing the non-value-added time consumed looking for old receipts.
Women that follow me in this role wouldn’t need to sacrifice significant space from their homes for our records.
Our outside CPA would be be able to conduct their annual review activities in a shorter amount of time, preserving our precious funds for their charitable purposes.
Although grass-roots run, we’re growing by leaps and bounds. At some point (and we think it’s soon), we’ll need to hire administrators. Using this product would help keep that point at bay a little longer and reduce the impact on our bottom-line when it happens.
Using this equipment would help us to continue providing really fun and engaging programs for budding technologists, building the future of our Country and the future economy of our home State. Besides their educational component, these programs demonstrate the enjoyment received when neighbors help neighbors, and reinforce the cycle of mentorship that will encourage future generations.
I could continue with multiple more examples of the improvements we would experience, but I really need to get back to the responsibilites of my actual job. Thank you for considering our application for this generous gift.
Those interested in learning about our programs can find the Michigan Council of Women in Technology online at http://www.mcwtf.org.

I am a first time business owner figuring it all out on my own. Since I took over an existing business, some things were set up before I came along. I’m having to sort through the rubble and get it all done my way. Fortunately, my OCD forces me to keep everything organized but, I am an extremely busy person with all my community service and charity work as well as my family. Finding solutions to deal with my time constraints is one of main objectives. This product would help me free up quite a bit of time while still keeping me organized and happy. I got super excited just hearing about its capabilities. Life is meant to be experienced not hindered. NeatDesk and NeatReceipts are the perfect solutions for what i need.
March 4th, 2010 at 4:14 pm
I organize with piles. This is not a good system. With NeatDesk, there will be only one pile: “to be tamed by NeatDesk.”
March 4th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
I would use this tool for accounting for receipts generated on a daily basis for taxes. I would also use it to keep track of articles and stuff and store it on internet. I could also use the system to scan other things i want to keep and then recycle the paper copies
March 4th, 2010 at 4:22 pm
Everything I do is Online but for the reciepts that I need to save. I do have a scanner at home but it’s a bulky piece and is a hassle to start/use especially it doesn’t have a paper slot for reciepts. Would love to scan the reciepts as soon as I’m home.
March 4th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
Every day an avalanche of papers comes in the door. I try to move more and more monthly statements to online but alas, they multiply like bunnies. Neat would solve a lot of the issues of mixing metaphors. Everything digital, now that’s NEAT!
March 4th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
Currently my desk is piled so high with papers (bills, receipts, etc) that individual piles often collapse, esp. when my cat leaps up to watch for birds outside my window.
My biggest problem is that once I file things, they cease to exist in my mind (out of sight, out of mind). Things that are on my computer do not fall into that category for some reason and I think part of the reason is that it’s so simple to deal with things there. Easy to set up folders and throw things into them. And if I do lose something on my computer it is extremely simple to find the with a quick search. Working with receipts and bills on the computer lets me easily adapt the filing system to my own quirky thought processes.
Because I have 2 small businesses with lots of paperwork attached to each, my life is a disaster at tax time… so I avoid it. I always get extensions and put it off as long as possible (usually forcing myself to pull things together and get them to the accountant around the 1st of October). It takes days to pull everything together by that point, of course. If I had a NeatDesk, I’d simply scan things in as soon as I sat down at my desk, file the receipt in the proper folder and it would take an amazing load of anxiety out of the process of doing taxes. It would be a huge relief. It would make my husband a lot happier too (he hates waiting till the last minute to file).
March 4th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
Help! I’m a “pile-it” as my Mom says. I have piles of documents and receipts and ideas that I need filed. And paper is so twentieth-century.
I own my design firm and find that I wear many hats - designer, bookkeeper, new business account exec, current-client account exec.
Aside from receipts and expenses, I’m constantly clipping ads I like or articles about web production issues or contact information for a potential new client I’d like to pursue.
A new NeatDesk would really help this “pile-it” fly!
March 4th, 2010 at 4:27 pm
Me want paper! Me eat paper! Om nom nom nom.
Seriously, I could really use a NeatDesk. Together, we can defeat the paper monster!
March 4th, 2010 at 4:29 pm
Running three businesses two of which put me and others on the road in the US, Canada and even Europe on a regular and trying to run me, a notorious procrastinator when it comes to entering receipts and even doing taxes, Neat would get me organized and save me hundreds of dollars. I would be able to scan all the receipts easily and immediately while not losing at least..well, two or three folders full of receipts that could save me money on taxes. And of yes, it would allow me more time and money to romance my business officer (who happens to be my wife.)
March 4th, 2010 at 4:29 pm
OMG! A neatReceipt is exactly what I need! I have hundreds of businesses receipts piling up on my desk, and I don’t know how to organize them! This would be perfect for me.
March 4th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
I’m a small business owner. I use TurboTax to prepare my taxes and have for several years now. Having the Neat system would save me time and money both of which are very valuable to me. The Neat system would allow my bookkeeper and me to quickly sort through and process company and employee expenses. I see the Neat system as a must have for anyone runnning a household, business, or just trying to stay orgianized.
March 4th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
This the solution for my paperless world. I’d scan every receipt and bill and organize them all for tax and budget purposes. My three file cabinets of papers could be (mostly) shredded, and retrieval would be nearly instantaneous. The only problem: getting my paper-oriented wife to buy into it.
March 4th, 2010 at 4:51 pm
I’m afraid my house is a fire hazard with all the excess paper stuffed in my filing cabinet, drawers, and closets. Please help me improve the fire safety of my house!
March 4th, 2010 at 4:53 pm
I’m a designer not a secretary! NeatDesk would tame the ClutterMonster of receipt tapes by offering a place to send all that extraneous data. This neat freak needs a NeatDesk to stay focused on the things that make the money that keeps receipts coming.
March 4th, 2010 at 5:02 pm
I have folders of crumpled up receipts from business trips and office expenses I have to put into my accounting software. Need to do it, but can’t seem to find the time…
March 4th, 2010 at 5:08 pm
This would be simply too good to be true.
An organized desk, knowing is secure in electronic files, and able to be organized in the whatever fashion that I might need.
Ah, I dream of chocolate cookies and a cup of good java as well.
May the dream come true.
March 4th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
I will become, more than less, paperless. Receipts, statements, 3-ring binders and files will all pass through Neat on their way to the shredder and recycling stream.
March 4th, 2010 at 5:49 pm
I’ve just started a new business and am eager to be green, simple and fast in the way I handle administration. This is going to be a great tool to help accomplish all three of those things!
March 4th, 2010 at 6:07 pm
After seeing Neat’s ad in Fast Company Magazine, I quickly saw the potential for this device. Going to school full time and working 35+ hours per week to support myself isn’t easy, and utilizing this device to go 99% paperless would be a HUGE help!! The design is simply beautiful and would look awesome on my desk! I’m also a bit of a “productivity nut” and would love to spread the word to ALL my firends and family!
- Shawn
March 4th, 2010 at 6:16 pm
I would use the impressive NeatDesk to free me from the perils of Lost Information Land (where I currently reside). It would be so nice to simply scan all my Medical, Homeowner, Estate, and Personal information and receipts into my computer and then have them ORGANIZED at my fingertips forever!! My ’system’ now consists of piles of papers under which my life exists somewhere. NeatDesk, I implore you, please help me find my LIFE!!
March 4th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
My book keeper quit last year in the middle of tax season. I had to gather things together - quickly - so that I could provide information to the tax preparer. I purchased a neat receipts scanner and started scanning receipts - and was able to provide the tax preparer with a complete list of categorized receipts in no time at all. I would use the Neatdesk at the office to eliminate paper clutter at the source.
March 4th, 2010 at 8:25 pm
I am trying to start my own business and their are alot of papers and reciepts that I need to keep track of ,on top of all of the paper work for my personal taxes. It seems like I am keeping every reciept I get and seems like I need every reciept I lose. I am not the most organized person(that what my wife tells me) and I think the NeatDesk could improve my habits and help me track all my spendings.
March 4th, 2010 at 8:30 pm
I get a lot of business cards of contacts- now I can have them all in one electronic database and file the information where I need it most!
And then I can start working on the receipts!
March 4th, 2010 at 8:31 pm
I am a high school teacher and a person with paper clutter disease. After several episodes of “Clean House” I have reduced my paper clutter by about 50% but I still struggle with loads of receipts for myself and school related items. At tax time its like my bed, dining table, coffee table and living room floor have regurgitated paper in several rooms of my small apartment. I dream of being completely organized and knowing in an instant where important documents and receipts are located. This product seems like a dream come true solution!
March 4th, 2010 at 9:07 pm
I am a travelling salesman and I generate enough paper receipts every few months to stuff a small bean bag. I dread tax season. If I knew I was going to win the NeatDesk I would apply for an extension now, and actually look forward to doing my 2009 taxes… I will not miss my bean bag collection. PLEASE, HELP ME!!!
March 4th, 2010 at 11:35 pm
I LOVE THAT YOU CAN IMPORT FROM TUBOTAX.I HAVE 6 FOOT MOUNTAINS OF PAPER THAT COULD SUFFOCATE ME AT ANY TIME.USING THIS WOUNDERFUL PIECE OF MACHINERY WOULD ELIMINATE ALL OF THESE MOUNTAINS FOR GOOD!
March 4th, 2010 at 11:46 pm
I dread doing finances for my framing business because of all the data entry involved with getting vendor invoices into QuickBooks and then the time involved in filing them away. I dream of being able to scan that batch of invoices into my computer, create a QuickBooks import file and load all those invoices in electronically — then shred the paper copies and reduce the paper monster in my office. I would also use NeatDesk to scan in business cards after networking events to do a better and faster job of followup. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pick me for the giveaway. I’ve been lusting for a NeatDesk for over a year now but I just can’t afford it at the moment.
March 5th, 2010 at 1:53 am
I would reclaim my life and the lost sleep hours! Every tax year I spend countless hours (when I lose out on sleep or family time) trying to get all my info together for the Tax Man. Well, I’d stick it to the Tax Man by being organized in advance and then sleep peacefully on April 15!
March 5th, 2010 at 6:57 am
I am a coach, consultant, real estate agent, educator, and mother. I LOVE my work (both paid and unpaid), as well as the variety each day brings. What I don’t love (or do well) is keep track of all the receipts and papers associated with my myriad businesses/lives. And because I don’t have a system, I let everything back up to the point of no return. With NeatDesk, I would be back at the helm and able to spend more time doing the work that brings others and me joy and profit.
March 5th, 2010 at 8:18 am
My husband “thinks” he is organized, but you should just SEE his desk! First time out, I would probably have to sneak into his office and do the deed! But once he has a NEATDESK AND a really neat desk, I KNOW he would pay for the “gift” in FREE ADVERTISING!
He’s definitely a “gadget kind of guy” - and this is ONE gadget that would make BOTH of us very happy! I can hardly wait!!
March 5th, 2010 at 8:26 am
I am currently running a slow but hopefull business that deals with receipts and invoices daily. My inability, due to finances, to delegate tasks leaves me with mounds and mounds of paperwork that needs to be filed in order to make my business and myself more organized, efficient, and prosperous.
March 5th, 2010 at 8:35 am
As a solopreneur, nothing gets done at my company unless I do it. Tracking expenses is one of those jobs that never gets done until tax season, when it can no longer be ignored. Scanning and categorizing receipts as I go would allow me to manage the outflow of money much more efficiently throughout the year - very important in these difficult economic times!
March 5th, 2010 at 9:09 am
This would be great because it would allow me to stop filing all the paperwork we have in a filing cabinet and to nicely and neatly put all in digital files so that its easily retrievable and easy to find. We tend to have way to much clutter when it comes to paper items that wind up on the desk, with this I can scan it, file it in a folder and then be able to search for it later if I need it and dispose of the paper altogether. In turn this will actually allow me to create a neat desk.
March 5th, 2010 at 9:28 am
I am moving to a paperless bookkeeping system with a bookkeeper who has Quickbooks on a server where he, my CPA and I can all have access. Since I do most of my banking, purchasing and bill paying online, the only paper part of the process is the physical receipts I get for things like meals and minor office supplies. Although I have a flatbed scanner, it is for design work and does not include OCR. The three feed sizes, OCR capability and export to Quickbooks would help streamline this last paper-centric part of my bookkeeping. It would also help me process the many business cards I pick up at networking events… currently I have my assistant entering that info into a database.
March 5th, 2010 at 9:29 am
I would replace my shoeboxes and ziploc bags of receipts!
March 5th, 2010 at 10:28 am
As much as the personal comuter was going to usher in the “paperless age”, I’ve never had more paper around in my life. In addition to the reciepts, notes to myself on napkins, etc. the Neat DeskDesk will be handy for filing veterinary and other medical bills. Talk about a mountian of paperwork….
March 5th, 2010 at 10:30 am
My desk is anything but “neat” so anything that will make it “neat” is good.
March 5th, 2010 at 10:36 am
This system would make my life so much easier.
March 5th, 2010 at 11:33 am
When I first moved to a new city about 6 years ago I never took time off, just straight into a new job. Then late office hours combined with night school for a few years has allowed the papers to pile up. Then I moved again and now everything is boxes, in need of filing. I have about 6 years of papers to tackle and the NeatDesk would REALLY HELP!
March 5th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
I travel 4-5 days a week and needless to say, we get a lot of mail during the week. A lot of it waits until I get home at the end of the week when I have to read through it all. It would be nice if my wife could scan the important stuff (technical term) and I could deal with it while I am on the road in the hotel room. I also need to get the portable NeatReceipts so I can scan my receipts while I am on the road. NeatDesk and NeatReceipts would make my life much better.
March 5th, 2010 at 12:25 pm
I plan to beat the paper monster before he even has a chance to grow. I shall deploy the NEAT attack team by placing them immeately inside the front door, drectly over a very large shredder. All paper work will surrender it’s self before ever entering the house, and will be ran through the scanner. Upon exiting the scanner they will fall into the maw of the shredder, never more to terroize me again!!! Wahahahahh!
March 5th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Here are three simple steps to tame the Paper Monster with NeatDesk:
Scan it. Shred it. And forget about it!
March 5th, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Oh my goodness. I have fallen in love with the Neat company. I saw an ad in a magazine at the bookstore and Ill forever be grateful that I did. The Neatdesk is so impressive, I cant even fathom how much time having one would save me. And to have all of the time to focus on something more productive than sorting and organizing receipts, invoices and documents, sounds like happiness. My taxes are just looming over my head right now and if I had one of these babies in my possession I know for a fact that I would be excited to get started. I could kill all of my paper monsters and have it digitally organized. Technology is beautiful. Thank you, not only for creating a product that could be of so much use to me and pretty much everyone I know, but for offering to give 10 away for smply commenting and spreading the word.
March 5th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
I am techno challenged and I just cannot fathomm how this workds, but I would use it. My accountant would surely tnank us.
March 5th, 2010 at 2:27 pm
It would save me from turning into a boarder-line paper hoarder!
March 5th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
I’m the new businss manager for a transportation business and with 3 drivers, including the owner, receipts are EVERYWHERE. I’ve tried and tried and TRIED to get them to put them in a certain spot so I can collect them when I need them, but no. They are in pockets, folders, evelopes, enevelope boxes, trunks, glove boxes, children’s homework, and yes, refrigerator freezers. With this Neat product…oh, the name sounds heavenly…I can collect them on a daily basis (heck, maybe even as-delivered basis), scan and move on with my life! Yes! Sounds good to me.

I plan on using the NeatDesk to help save me next year when it comes to organizing and storing receipts, for one. I caused a bit of trouble for myself this last year by saving receipts. How? Well you are obviously supposed to save all of your business receipts and if you do a lot of spending throughout the year that can end up being a ton of tiny paper slips. Unfortunately a lot of the various places I shop at have started using the inkless/heat printing type receipts. Probably really convenient for them and probably saves a ton on ink but they are definitely not meant to be long lasting. Just regular aging will darken them of fade them out…which isn’t usually a problem saving for just one year for taxes (though you are supposed to save longer than that for records). BUT, they also don’t hold up to environmental or direct heat very well at all.
Tip: DO NOT leave a “shoebox” full of these types of receipts in your car on the back window dash even just for a day while moving offices…ever! Yeah, scanning in these receipts with a NeatDesk would have saved me untold hundreds/thousands that I planned to write off.
Save me next year Neat Co!!
March 5th, 2010 at 3:20 pm
I am starting up two business’s at the same time, plus I am a licensed real estate agent who saves every card and receipt I get. I am surrounded by boxes and piles of paper that when moved, seem to disappear. Paper here in Hawaii draws roaches and ants. So I would use NeatDesk to make the piles disappear and get rid of the bugs in my life. Can NeatDesk be used for personal/business and multibusiness applications? I hope so, or I will need several of them. Scan, shred and GO! Whoo Hoo!!
March 5th, 2010 at 5:06 pm
I would show you a picture of my desk, but I can’t find my camera. I know it’s in there somewhere.
March 5th, 2010 at 5:21 pm
I am an independant contractor for a company and have various receipts and documentation I need to be able to file taxes. Every year I say that I am going to be more organized but during the year I run out of time to keep up and at tax time I am spending an entire weekend organizing my papers. I also live in a VERY small home (752 sq ft) and trying to keep all the papers is a nightmare. With Neat Desk I could be organized and have more space.
March 5th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
Shoe boxes, manila envelopes and just piles and pile of receipts. It’s all just out of control. Every year is such a struggle and you’d think I’d learn! NeatDesk will be my a-ha! moment to finally subdue and maybe even kill the dreaded Paper Monster. NeatDesk’s reports will reduce tax time from days to hours!
March 5th, 2010 at 8:20 pm
I can get rid of paper stacks that are currently stored temporarily at various locations in the house until tax time. These paper stacks are a pain to manually sort and record.
March 5th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
This software and scanner would help me out deeply at tax time and more. You see I am a disabled vet. I have been fighting for my VA Disability for almost 10 years now. There is a ton of records and paperwork that I have to track and maintain. It is very difficult for me to keep track of all this documentation and paperwork. You see, I had a traumatic brain injury which causes me memory problems and difficulty with organization. This could be a saving grace for me. Not only do I have to keep track of my documents for the VA but also have to do the same for United States Marine Corps Combat Related Special Compensation Board and for and The National Institute of Health for a case study of my conditions. Beyond that, the same would go for my taxes. Keeping track of all my receipts and paperwork has been a large problem for me because of the brain injury.

Turk at Turk-o-Tax will revolutionize the tax preparation world by becoming the fastest growing virtual tax preparation service. After securing several thousand NeatDesk’s to distribute across the country at local bank branches, people for the first time are able to scan tax documents and send right to Turk-o-Tax for preparation! No more waiting in line at local tax service providers and paying outrageous fees. With minimal overhead Turk-o-Tax is able to provide low cost tax preparation to individuals across the country in a way that is minimally invasive to their life.
Why stop there!
NeatDesk will win me a new job! As a top candidate for a controller position in a tight job market, pitching a 100% digital / paperless accounting system using NeatDesk will be just what this new company is looking for. By demonstrating the efficiencies of the NeatDesk, all documents will be at the fingertips of the controller providing for complete transparency into the company’s financial statements.
Thanks NeatDesk!

I want to use NeatDesk for clutter busting! Whether looking through emails or stacks of paper, tax time is an especially frustrating time of year — it would be wonderful to have everything organized in an easy to access way.
March 6th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
Wow, this would be great year-round - I would scan my medical receipts year-round and then have them so handy at tax time. This would help with keeping track of HSA distributions!
March 6th, 2010 at 1:20 pm
In my line of work I get paper thrown at me from every direction. I have forty employees working at 15-20 job sites. The amount of paper from any one of the guys could bury an office, and mine looks like Mt. St. Reams has exploded several hundred feet above it, and rained paper down on it for the last month or so. I NEED the NeatDesk to to be my trusty St. Bernard and save me from this avalanche!
March 6th, 2010 at 9:42 pm
My job generates a large number of receipts every day. NeatDesk would not only make my desk neat, but would make my accounting and billing so much easier… I can’t wait…
March 7th, 2010 at 11:59 am
I plan to beat the paperless system by utilizing it to promote the ease of its use by referring it to over 3000 distributors that could utilize it to better control their businesses. This will assist them in preparing their books and help lessen their tax liability.
March 7th, 2010 at 7:15 pm
I use a NeatReceipts scanner. A NeatDesk would make so much easier to cleat clutter at home. I could scan a whole stack of stuff without feeding the sheets individually. And because NeatDesk would sit on my desk, I could leave my NeatReceipts scanner in my briefcase to scan things on the go.
March 8th, 2010 at 10:45 am
I would use NeatReceipts to scan all my credit card slips, and categorize them for tax-deductible items!
March 8th, 2010 at 10:56 am
In addition to ditching my flatbed scanner, which is a huge pain, I’d use the NeatDesk to get taxes organized, as well as an abundance of insurance claims for my partner who has just had a hemipelvectomy (half his pelvis and complete left leg) removed and is in the beginnings of chemotherapy. In addition to our two insurance carriers we have an AFLAC policy that requires lots of paperwork. I fax using efax through my computer so the need to have electronic versions of a lot of paperwork is a must. Insurance is complicated enough. I need NeatDesk to make it simpler on my end.
March 8th, 2010 at 11:02 am
A neat desk! It would overjoy my wife, who would love to see her ADHD husband’s home office’s paper clutter tamed with a NeatDesk! Tax receipts, scans for flex spending, business cards, clippings from newspapers and magazines unfiled & overflowing … you name it! They are all candidates for your cool product.
March 8th, 2010 at 11:02 am
I keep every scrap of paper for the whole year until tax time - I have two filing cabinets, a multitude of file boxes, and stacks on my desk and floor of my home office. I would LOVE to be able to scan everything in and keep track of it that way instead - receipts, bills (paid or not), correspondence, EVERYTHING. Even when doing my taxes I’m sure I’m missing something because it has disappeared into the pile. If I won one of these I would spend an entire weekend and every night of two weeks constantly scanning everything I can get to (my home office is so full that may be a challenge). If I could afford one I would have bought one already because I think this could be a lifesaver, a de-clutter godsend, and a path to my return to sanity (not to mention the ability to get in and out of my home office without having to navigate an obstacle course - pictures of the disaster area are available
) - thank you for this contest and the opportunity to try and win one of these (and for putting out such a great product)!
March 8th, 2010 at 11:29 am
I’d love to have NeatDesk scanner to help me keep track of ALL receipts for the work and personal life. I am working towards the dream of building world’s first fully integrated and accessible town for sign language users, and this device would help me keep all that stuff and expenses together so I can focus on the real work.
March 8th, 2010 at 11:30 am
As a professional writer and business owner, I seem to collect lots of paper - from receipts to business cards to copies of research. If I had a Neat Desk, I think I might actually be able to see my desk! Having it would make me more effective and productive, especially since I won’t waste time entering data into my Mac, filing papers away or worse…losing important documents altogether!
March 8th, 2010 at 11:31 am
It is all about getting in front of the prospect - a NetRecords scanner frees up desk time to sell, promote, concept our products and services in front of someone who has a problem and I have a solution - this will allow me to grow my business.
March 8th, 2010 at 11:47 am
I would use NeatDesk to find my desk again. It has so much paper on it, I don’t even remember the color of my desk any more.
March 8th, 2010 at 12:23 pm
I work for a small non-profit in the sustainability field, with remote employees. To add to the confusion, we have an off-site very part time bookkeeper. A NeatDesk would be a terrific help in tracking all the fluttering pieces of paper that land on my desk, that I’m afraid to get rid of in case someone else needs them.
March 8th, 2010 at 12:43 pm
By using the NeatDesk I could actually use shoeboxes for what they’re made for, photo storage! =) With NeatDesk I could actually see my desk surface and use manila envelopes for something new - mail!
I have the mentality that I can’t get rid of it because what if I need that receipt or that piece of paper or that note that I scribbled (but can’t actually read). I do own a small business so saving receipts are important. But tax time would be soooo much easier if I had everything organized by NeatDesk.
If I have the NeatDesk, my shoeboxes can be reclaimed, my desk can breathe and I can stop running out to buy more envelopes because I no longer need paper receipts.
NeatDesk will be the ultimate piece of mind for me. Now if only I could find my bank statement to see if I can afford to buy NeatDesk… =)
March 8th, 2010 at 12:47 pm
You mean I can scan all my newspaper clippings, warranties, statements, etc. etc. etc. and not have to hassle with buying filing cabinets, filing systems, etc? And save time and money? I’ll do it!
March 8th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
Wow! Endless possibiilties. NeatDesk seems to be the most flexible,Scanner and document organizer I have seen on the market. It makes having a virtual filing system easy and affordable. The “Best” investment in 2010. Being able to scan, digitally file, organize reciepts and documents in one place will tame the paper monster that is part of my home and business paper management chore especially at Tax Time. I would be able to use the “Intelligent Text Recognition” software to read and analyze the document for key information that makes the document searchable and retrievable in a PDF format. I can get rid of the large filing cabinet in my home office. I can run reports throughout the year to see where I am at with my current year’s tax deductions. I can also merge this with Turbo Tax to make filing easier. Thanks NeatDesk for this fantastic innovation to make life easiers. Now I will have more time to other important things - family time…
March 8th, 2010 at 1:03 pm
Hello! What would I do for a NeatDesk desktop scanner and Digital filing system. I am consultant in the Salon and Spa industry. I handle so much paperwork it is a nightmare keeping up with it all. I would use the NeatDesk to get my paper nightmare manageable in a digital filing cabinet. Wow, searable documents - contracts, training materials, business receipts, business cards…it’s endless as to what I could organize, store and retrieve when I need it. Thanks Neat Desk, I could get rid of the hard copies in my file cabinet.
March 8th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
I would use the NeatReceipts system to keep all our small business receipts in order. Between my husband’s anti-paperwork attitude, my toddler’s love of tearing up papers she finds, and my own busy schedule, it could be a lifesaver!
March 8th, 2010 at 1:58 pm
this is a great idea and i am the tech solutions guy but many times the all in ones are a nuisance and it works better sometimes to get a single items which works great and this is it!
I have done my research and its a winner
March 8th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
We will learn how to use NeatDesk in our office and show our clients how simple it can be to keep good records! Then we all can spend more time living our lives and less time on paperwork . . .
March 8th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Timing is everything. And the NeatDesk will arrive just in time. I just started my own small business (Feb 2010) and the paperwork and filing of official documents/records is a daunting task. Instead of playing document catch-up down the road - having a NeatDesk during the spin up of my business ensures I embed virtual filing as a fundamental part of my business operation. Not to mention bookkeeping and taxes will be a snap next year as all my documents are accurately categorized and only a mouse click away in my digital file cabinet. Using NeatDesk is the definition of efficiency and a boon for a start-up business person like me.
March 8th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
As a professional coach and OD consultant, I am very focused on the concept of “clutter-free living.” Clutter takes the form of physical stuff that surrounds us, but also mental stuff that distracts us and gets in our way. The NeatDesk scanner is definitely in alignment with my belief in the importance of simplifying, organizing, and giving ourselves mental and physical space for those things we really want to be/do/have in our personal and professional lives. I believe this is a tool that could be of use to anyone who wants to be more efficient, effective, and confident in managing themselves and their work.
March 8th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
As a public high school teacher and a wife that works for a non-public school, we have tons of receipts for educational expenses stacked up at the end of the year. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to account for all the mileage expense reports and supplies purchased. My wife also runs a community store, at her site. Every one to two months, she goes shopping at several different stores and purchases $500 to $1000 dollars worth of clothing, journals, CD players, DVD’s, candies, etc…. She then has to make sure she has receipts for all purchases to be reimbursed. The NeatDesk would help us be able to efficiently organize and account for all receipts without worrying where they were placed and/or if they were lost after turning them in for reimbursement.
March 8th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
I have been using NeatReciepts for over two years now. I have been converting 16 file cabinets of records to digital. My scanner is wearing out. I like the design of the new scanner to be able to load several sheets at a time. Along with the business card shute that makes sure the cards enter straight into the scanner. The real problem here is I haven’t been able to budget one yet since I just lost my job. So back to scanning documents with the single sheet feeder for now.
March 8th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
Paper Monster? Only at tax time? That sounds like a Boogey Monster. My Paper Godzilla lives and destroys year round. Digital backup is the only way for security in this age.
March 8th, 2010 at 3:55 pm
I’m looking at my desk. It’s a disaster! I just started printing off bank statements to at least begin the process of gathering together all of the receipts, etc. for my personal and company taxes and I’m afraid I’m one of those people who keep nothing organized. I really need a system to help me throughout the year, not just at tax time.
March 8th, 2010 at 4:05 pm
As I write this, my entire office is taken over by paper. Paper is everwhere! Paper! Paper! Paper! AAAAGH!
If I had the NeatReceipts system, I would scan all of my receipts and prove to the world once and for all that no one needs paper, except people who work at recycling plants. And maybe people who wrap gifts. Then I would go out and get some Chinese food.
March 8th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
I work remotely so I continue to use my NeatReceipts to scan docs to PDF for home and business. Upgrading to NeatDesk would allow me to load multipage documents more effectively. It would also give my wife a more userfriendly way to scan invoices and contracts for her Quartet business. We continue push to a complete paperless filing system and the NeatDesk would make it straightforward and easy!
March 8th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Deducting the home-office expenses can get tricky - keeping track of them is even trickier. I would station NeatDesk at the doorway into my office, so that every time I walked in I would be reminded to scan those receipts and get my work product sorted.
March 8th, 2010 at 5:11 pm
I plan to scan all receipts, sales contracts, school enrollment forms, health care consent forms, liability waivers and have them all uploaded to evernote.com. That way my family will have access to the information whether online or offline through our iPhones.
March 8th, 2010 at 6:11 pm
Besides the obvious benefit of reclaiming my desk surface (of what material and color it is I can not recall), I might finally find my car keys so that I can take that day off I have been promising myself.
Come to think of it as I look around I can see that my office is much smaller than it used to be… I think the Paper Monster is planning to nest in here. I am quite sure he has consumed nearly half the room.
So, I write this sonnet with my own stamp on it, hoping to banish that paper-loving beast, on my back; it is upon it.
__________
For the sake of humanity,
and indeed my own sanity,
I desperately need
to be finally freed;
from the paper shackles,
and co-workers cackles
over my endless archival battles.
The Company Neat would be so sweet,
to help me tame my mountainous receipts.
With a NeatDesk to be sure,
I’ll see that Paper Monster no more.
Thanks to the Neat-est new technological treat,
I’ll be Strolling to the shredder feeling much better;
as I fear the stacks and stacks of reams - nevermore.

I would put the neat desk to work right away. Organize my vendors expenses and scan them into vendor folders. Use it for my tax preparation and keeping track of my accounting records. It will stream line my prep work for tax filing for my company and on my personnal tax return.

I am starting a business and I would like to have a Neat Desk to help me organize all the paperwork that a new business entails. Also, it would help me reduce the purchase of paper.
I try to recycle every one side document that passes my desk (I use the blank side) The Neat Desk will allow me to scan printed reports, agendas, ppts, etcs that I get at conference, meetings, and other non important documents, keep them in a file in my computer for reference and then I will reuse the paper again! Neat Desk will help me clean up my file cabinet (keep it only for important docs) and at the same time I will help me save some trees!
March 8th, 2010 at 8:12 pm
NeatDesk will help scan all the paper on a weekly basis because it can do a stack of 25 pages at once … and NeatReceipts will help me on the road when I meet clients and have a lot of business cards and all the receipts!! Also once they are all scanned, it will store online, so I can access it from anywhere =)
March 9th, 2010 at 2:41 am
I think it’s a great invention. Certainly beats having piles of receipts clogging a drawer. Scan and go - welcome to the tech age!
March 9th, 2010 at 9:44 am
Tax season would go much smoother when the paper monster is tamed by your fantastic product! My clients could even bring in their recipts to make the accounting ten times easier than it is now! Thanks for such a fantastic product idea that works!!
March 9th, 2010 at 10:08 am
I would just like to live clutter free I’ve got receipts everywhere in the closet as I empty pockets in the kitchen drawer, receipts in ziploc bags it just makes sense to have them digitized and in one place. They are taking over my house and the funny thing is I can’t find them when I need it .. lol
March 9th, 2010 at 10:56 am
I could use NeatReceipts for controlling the mass of receipts I have for business expense reports, tax documents/receipts and other miscellaneous scraps of paper I seem to collect and cannot part with.
March 9th, 2010 at 12:13 pm
I have heard so many great things about Neat Company’s products from friends, many of whom are consultants and run their own companies. I would love to join them in using these products to tame the Paper Monster!
March 9th, 2010 at 12:47 pm
Help! NeatDesk pleas save me from the Paper Monster. Just spent 2 days looking for receipts. Couldn’t find a document I really needed…now it’s gonna cost me $$. Please send NeatDesk to the rescue

I’m a small business owner, and doing my return this year was a nightmare. Quickbooks made it easier, but it was still a mess, because some receipts got double entered, some didn’t get entered, and I still had a paper file with all of the receipts. The NeatDesk would REALLY help me keep everything organized and on my computer. It would make my life so much easier.
March 9th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I look forward to the paperless office. No more clutter and everything easy to find. I figure this will double my number of productive hours each week. Plus it’s much easier to make a backup copy off-site. If there’s a fire, I know all of my documents will be safe and sound.
March 9th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
I love using my Neat mobile scanner for my business expense receipts. It’s a simple process to keep my receipts categorized and up-to-date, and saves tons of time at the end of the month. My plan would be to have the new NeatReceipts scanner placed prominently on my home office desk, to help with the endless clutter of home expense receipts, not to mention all of the time and effort saved at tax time!
March 9th, 2010 at 11:12 pm
Since my wife and I have some medical problems that require numberless visits to physicians and labs each year, I would use Neat Desk to organize my recipes for tax purposes, saving me hours at tax time. Just having all my recipes in one place would make for a better life.
March 10th, 2010 at 10:49 am
This is a great little device that will help me to simplify my life in 2010! I have my own business which I run out of a home office and I hate clutter! I write on two blogs about promotions and marekting, so I just wrote about this one. Check out my blog post on http://www.Lipsticking.com. I tweeted it as well!

Neatdesk will rescue me from the paper monster. Currently I avoid going digital due to the time consuming task of single page scanning. Going with NeatDesk will allow me to go through the pile of paper and to go change accountant. I have been introduced to an accountant that operates solely on scanned documents sent electronically. You scan and send them as you receive them and they get delt with right away. No more paper piling up and no more rush at tax time. Awesome!
March 10th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
As the administrative assistant for my father’s company. I would use the neat desk to finally get his paper monster under control! Every year it’s the same things, sweating bullets trying to pull together all the documents needed for tax time. In my open we spend too much time sorting through paper, there has got to be an easier way, which has to be the neat desk!! So my plan is to utilize the neat desk to get this 25 year old business organized for the next century of business!
March 10th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
I was consumed with paper… I run a business and homeschool my kids; Neat Receipts saved me from the paper monster!!! Neat Receipts will be always and forever my best bud in the office! What a time saver and it’s super easy to use! No more piles of receipts, documents, etc. on my desk! YEAH!
Our kids even joined us in scanning; we’ve now scanned every company & family document that were in our file cabinets for 10 plus years. Now I find my files by a simple click of the mouse!
I am on my second scanner and would love, love, love to have the new multi scanner!!! PICK ME!!!
March 10th, 2010 at 2:47 pm
From the posts already here, I can see that I’m not alone in my need for a solution to my paper piles. This past year, I invested in 12 (yes, twelve!) “fire sale” 5-drawer file cabinets that line the walls of my tiny apartment to try and manage the mess…and I’m ALREADY out of drawer space! My business and hobbies necessitate keeping the records (statements, receipts, letters, business cards, brochures, tax and legal documents, medical records, idea sheets, etc.) but it’s costing me living space and monthly storage fees that I REALLY can’t afford. The NeatDesk, especially with its automatic document feeder, promises to be a “dream come true.” If I had available funds, I’d purchase it in a heartbeat! Winning this contest will go a L-O-N-G way toward saving my sanity, my time, my space, and so much more! THANK YOU…for your innovation and commitment, for your product, for this contest, and for - I sincerely hope and pray - picking me as a WINNER!
March 10th, 2010 at 3:40 pm
I had an audit this past year for my business. Having my receipts in NW made all the difference. I sailed though without question. Pulled up all receipts requested by the auditor. I only have a portable scanner and would love Neat Desk. I know how well it works, and I could use a little more speed.
March 10th, 2010 at 4:28 pm
NeatDesk manages your paperwork. By scanning in all your important papers, receipts, etc. you can organize documents with file names. This makes it quick to retrieve information rather than search through piles of papers or receipts. I also use it to scan papers from my children’s schools, report cards, tuition information, and other papers. If I need to retrieve information, I just click on my file with school paperwork and pull it up in a snap. Information retrieval is so easy now.
March 10th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
I use my Neat Receipts portable all the time for work on site and at home. Neat Receipts has really helped to organize my current receipts and documents.
Neat Desk would be great to have as my permanent home office station as it would give me the capacity to scan more papers at a time and faster, too. It will be a great tool to eliminating the backlog of papers that are still cluttering up my home office. It would certainly help speed up getting ready for taxes.
March 10th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
I will use my Neat Desk with my Mac at home to finally tame all the paper in my house - i scan at work as we are an earth friendly start up company - now its time to do the same at home!
March 10th, 2010 at 5:43 pm
We have been using NeatReceipts to keep track of donations and receipts for a mission team we are taking to Africa this summer. The records come in all sorts of formats including handscribled notes, emails, and checks (I refuse to scan cash contributions but can add a receipt manually to record the event or scan an paper receipt.)
March 10th, 2010 at 5:48 pm
After starting a new business, I had a lot of documents and receipts to keep track of. NeatReceipts allows me to shred these receipts which had been keeping me from using my library–the boxes of receipts were so bad that I couldn’t open up my door to the room! Now, I was able to shred enough to put a bed in the library which really helps as we transition our toddler into her big sister room. Even her closets were filled with my documents and receipts–the paper monster had taken over too many rooms in our house–until NeatReceipts came along.
March 10th, 2010 at 5:50 pm
Also, we are working on geneology for the family. As we collect photos and documents, we started another container–we are such paper collectors–but the NeatDesk allows me to scan several family trees and even photos! I LOVE this scanner and this software!
March 10th, 2010 at 6:26 pm
I would get rid of boxes of receipts and papers. Also I would be able to maintain copies of those receipts printed with thermal printers which “disappear” between the time that I buy something and the end of the year. I If I won, the money I saved would be used to buy a new shreder, because I will without question wear out the cheap one I have now.

As either secretary or treasurer for three organizations, plus keeping the books for our own vineyard business I am slowly sinking beneath the ever growing piles of receipts, etc. Add to that two new projects…building two spec houses for resale and all the massive records that go along with that…I seem married to my office rather than being out in the freshair doing the things I most enjoy. NeatDesk would simplify things soooooo much.
March 10th, 2010 at 8:04 pm
I am what you would call a serious pack rat. I have mountains of paper to tame with no solution in hand. My hope would be to tame that pile into a digital collection so I can find my office not just my desk and so that I could find what I am looking for when I need it. The different sized paper option on the neatdesk and the store to inbox then file later sure sounds fantastic. Maybe if I could get all those receipts organized and paid for I could afford to buy this fancy tool.
March 10th, 2010 at 8:43 pm
Being disabled with limited use of my hands and arms, I use NeatWorks to help me with scanning, organizing, reconciling and categorizing all our annual personal and business expenses. Business expenses nicely import into QuickBooks, further saving time with corp tax prep and return. Also use business receipts to construct mileage records and deductions. I don’t know how I’d make it through tax season without Neatworks! Thank you for inventing this product!

My plan would be to scan and recycle *immediately*, not leaving the papers to pile up everywhere and become so overwhelming.
March 10th, 2010 at 8:48 pm
If I had scanned my receipts with Neat Desk, I wouldn’t be staring at a pile of unreadable slips of paper with faded ink that were once receipts for tax deductible expenses.
March 10th, 2010 at 9:52 pm
I hate to file and my piles of bills, mail, bank statements, paycheck stubs, etc. show it. I would love to simplify my life with NeatDesk -please pick me :-).
March 10th, 2010 at 10:06 pm
I use neat receipts and it makes everything so easy for me. I run a family daycare out of my home and so I really don’t have lots of extra time to enter all my paperwork. the new scanner looks even easier which would give me more time for other things and less clutter on my desk.
March 10th, 2010 at 10:30 pm
It’s simple … I’m buried in paper and don’t have ANY more room for filing any more. I need to DIGITIZE or I’ll disappear under the pile!
March 11th, 2010 at 12:35 am
I am a professional organizer and I’ve been dying to get one of these machines so I can help my clients with their mountains of paper monsters!
March 11th, 2010 at 12:46 am
Will use Neat Receipts/Neat Desk to scan in all my business(es) receipts and discard the paper. 2010 will be mu first full year of paperless.
March 11th, 2010 at 1:46 am
My desk is as scattered as my brain - NeatDesk would help me to get at least one of those in order!
March 11th, 2010 at 3:38 am
I SO yearn to turn my paper into orderly, digital data that I can fine. File cabinets should be obsolete by now.
March 11th, 2010 at 4:04 am
AS A BUSSINES OWNER I NEED TO KEEP IN TRACK ALL THE RECEIPS AND WITH THIS MACHINE MAKES EVERITHING EASY, ESPECIALY FOR TAX SEASON THANK YOU
PEOPLE OF NEAT FOR THIS INVENTION.
March 11th, 2010 at 6:58 am
I would be able to scan each document and receipt as it came in and upload the data to my on-line tax-filing software. No more scrambling around at tax time looking for statements and receipts.
March 11th, 2010 at 7:02 am
I just need NEATDESK and a hi-speed scanner only device with auto feed to make my life paper -free! I already use Neat works.
March 11th, 2010 at 8:46 am
I would be able to scan all documents as they come in so I would have a lot less paperwork to deal with at Tax time. It would be a tremendous time and stress saver!
March 11th, 2010 at 8:56 am
My wife and I haven’t seen our desks in months, NeatDesk would help us clean the clutter so we could finally leave the office door open.
March 11th, 2010 at 9:13 am
I have a NeatReceipts scanner it is about 3 or 4 years old. I love it but I need an updated scanner. A NeatDesk would make paperwork so much easier to clean. I am unemployed due to our lovely economy so I am in the middle of trying lots of crazy ideas!
It really does help to keep you organized. Also you can see where your money is going! Pick me please!
March 11th, 2010 at 9:17 am
I travel every week, so I love my NEAT Receipts. But I still take care of the bills, I need the Neat Desk so my wife can just scan verything in as she gets it while I am away.
March 11th, 2010 at 9:29 am
With a new baby on the way my current office is scheduled to be turned into a nursery by tax day.
I have dusty stacks of paper notes and receipts ready to be scanned into my Mac and then passed on to my accountant. I would love to revamp my workflow and ditch these stacks of paper.
A Neat-enabled paperless life would be awesome and life changing. I’m allergic to dust and going paperless would help my allergies significantly.
Thanks!
March 11th, 2010 at 9:34 am
It would be sweet to scan each document and receipt as it came in and upload the data to my tax-filing software. I always plan on filing each receipt neatly in an expanding folder, but by the end of the year, it’s no so neat!
March 11th, 2010 at 9:38 am
To be able to scan the receipts and stock statements and mortgage documents would be great! Then I can simply recall them when needed, instead of trying to dig through the pile that never got filed. Still making labels for last years files…
March 11th, 2010 at 9:40 am
My NeatReceipts scanner saves me countless hours on the road. NEATDESK can help provide the same benefits at home!
March 11th, 2010 at 9:46 am
I have neatworks and love it. Neat desk will make everything work so much faster. It will even make my wife happy because I would have to clear more space to put it on the desk!
March 11th, 2010 at 10:14 am
We travel and interact with new people every day. It’s a lot of fun but collects a lot of paper, business cards, etc… I want a way to search those cards, receipts, etc…
March 11th, 2010 at 10:23 am
As the primary “all-things-paper” person for our home, our homeschool, our small on-line business (go etsy!) and our farm, the NeatDesk would help me retain what little sanity I have left! Besides, the top of my desk isn’t where compost should happen…
Thanks for this great giveaway!
March 11th, 2010 at 10:32 am
I’d love to tackle the huge pile of receipts and documents piled on my desk. The NeatDesk scanner would make this a snap.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:39 am
I already use Neatreceipts 3.0 and love it, but could really use a updated version with tax category. since my husband retired, we spend our time traveling and it would be very hard to store all the paperwork you come across without neatreceipts.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:42 am
I scanned all my receipts for 2009. I am completely ready for tax season. I love the way it keeps a running total of the categories.
Now, tax season does not seem so daunting. I have all my records at my fingertips.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:43 am
As a Pastor of a small country church you would think there would not be that much “paper work.” Think Again! With various receipts for fuel, supplies, bills and any other thing you could imagine Neat Desk would be a huge help in record keeping and budgeting. Please Help!!!
March 11th, 2010 at 10:45 am
Every month I dread going throught the piles of paper only to make more paper piles. I am soley responsible for my paper driven life at work and home; no personal assistant to help organize my life. I also do my own taxes… I need to have a better system and I know NeatDesk is a solution to a more oganized and stress free office. Turn my paper monsters into friendly e-files!
March 11th, 2010 at 10:47 am
I operate my own bookkeeping business and it is my job to take other people’s paperwork and receipts into my office. So as you can imagine my office is LOST to paperwork. I use a Neatworks mobile scanner and I LOVE IT! My clients LOVE the reports I give them when I have their boosk organized and nice and neat. However, my own receipts are taking over every crack and crevice they can find. In a busy household of 5 people and a hyper puppy there is an incredible amount of paperwork! I need a full size scanner to scan and save and throw out all those pieces of paper that are taking over!! Simplifying my life and my client’s life is such a wonderful thing!
March 11th, 2010 at 11:05 am
With my first full tax year using Neat behind me now, I can actually complete my tax returns on one of those tiny tables at Starbucks—minus the paper clutter of the past!
March 11th, 2010 at 11:10 am
My Desk is such a mess that i havent seen the window behind in years. It’s so hard to track all this amount of bills, receipts, taxes, etc.
I need a Intervention from NeatDESK!!! to get me back on my feet again.
March 11th, 2010 at 11:16 am
I would use this for my business and travel receipts. And also to go to paperless for all my bills, receipts and invoices. This would save me time with the reporting capabilities and also would work well with my financial software. What a great easy idea.
March 11th, 2010 at 11:21 am
I love my portable scanner, but would really love to move up to the NeatDesk for my office. I move alot of paper, and any that I can scan I do.
March 11th, 2010 at 11:24 am
Storing an image of a receipt in Quicken 2009 is easy with the scanner. It allows me to have the receipt available to substantiate the expense.
works great.
March 11th, 2010 at 11:30 am
This year, my daughter is applying to colleges, and I was required to file the FAFSA which was due February 1st! I usually am such a mess I don’t get all my assorted paper work to our accountant until April 13 or so… this year, I needed to have taxes filed in order to complete the FAFSA and it was my small neatworks scanner to the rescue! I used a very basic version of neatworks to immediately scan and electronically store any tax related documents that came in the month of January, w-2 forms, 1099’s, etc. I also scanned all my donation receipts and such. All I had to do was attach these scanned documents to an e-mail to my accountant and he had all the information he needed to take care of my taxes for me by the end of January! I will do this from now on so that March and April aren’t such a nightmare for me! I also use neatworks scanner to copy business cards as soon as i get them, and bank statements, and important reciepts! I’m finding something new to use the neatworks scanner for every day! Thanks so much!
March 11th, 2010 at 11:38 am
My wife Nancy and I own a large web based network marketing business. A NeatDesk would virtually eliminate our large file cabinets and restore some much needed space to our office for more important things like a putting green or perhaps a Wii fit. Let the games begin!
March 11th, 2010 at 11:51 am
I am a small business owner, and if it is not enough I am an artist trained business owner. Since I started my company under my name in 2003 I was never be able to file my taxes on time. My record was filing them on the end of Oct. one year
Plus over the years I start producing my designs and it got even more complicated. When I met the Neat receipts on 2008 december, my life changed. My husband bought it for me as Christmas gift (he’s a software engineer
his gifts always a compact gaget -the travel version-) last year I was almost on time with my taxes, but this year I AM!!! very first time I even have a database for my business cards!!
The only thing is missing a neat desktop to spped things up!.
March 11th, 2010 at 11:53 am
My job involves a considerable amount local and international travel. Neatworks has been a real godsend. before I used Neat Receipts I would have to sort through weeks of receipts and organize them for my expense reports resulting in several days of work to complete my reports, now I scan my receipts at the end of each day so when I return to the office everything is already organized and ready to submit.
Neat Desk would be a great asset to have in my as it would give me office, the capacity to scan multiple papers at a time will be a great tool to eliminating the backlog of papers that are still cluttering my home office.
This would certainly help expedite preparations for tax day.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
NeatDesk would solve all of my paperwork problems and dilemmas! I keep everything…. ever receipt and piece of potentially important paperwork. I have it all in case I need it, but it is “packed” away in folders and boxes, so it would take me a very long time to find anything I might need. With NeatDesk, I could scan all of that paper and now that I know the IRS accepts scanned copies, I could throw away (better yet, shred) everything once scanned and electronically filed. NeatDesk = a PERFECT PAPERWORK SOLUTION!
March 11th, 2010 at 12:41 pm
I have hundreds of receipts, Rxs, labwork data, scan reports, statements and EOBs from a medical issue I am going through as well as all the standard stuff of business receipts, and all the bills and tax statements. Neatdesk is a huge timesaver in that it lets me quickly scan and analyze receipts and docs either into Neatreceipts or straight to my own pdf filing system. It easily saved me the cost of the scanner in the time I saved in the first week of having the Neatdesk scanner vs the travel scanner. The travel scanner is great for mobile situations, but Neatdesk is the real deal in an office.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
I try to scan everything, keeping images of signed documents, statements, receipts, orders, contracts, invoices, etc. online for easy archiving, access and retrieval. NeatDesk would save me a ton of time, particularly for the many multi-page documents that I scan.
March 11th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I’m ahead of everyone. I hate flatbed scanners. Too cumbersome for my tiny office and everything got put on top of the flat surface. The sole reason I purchased my Neat Machine is because I pass just about everything through it. I even dismantle puzzle magazines and enter pages to reproduce later. I’m retired so passing receipts through as I get them is faster to me then finding a place to store them until later. Outside of my computer it’s the most overworked machine on my desktop.
March 11th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
I have been using NeatWorks for MAC for the past year using the small portable scanner. I am an independent consultant and have come to learn how important it is to keep track of business related expenses. The software helps me keep all of my personal and business expenses “neatly” organized and compiled. I would use NEATDESK to make this job even easier than it is now. I also look forward to the software upgrade that is coming out this month.
March 11th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
I not only do paperwork for my husbands business, i am a beginning genealogist. so- this little item helps me manage what i CAN NEVER find when i need it! great item, every office should have one!
March 11th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
The question here should be… what wouldn’t I use my new NeatDesk scanner for… not that I wouldn’t try to scan everything into the NeatWorks program (doggies, kitties, hubby, you name it I’d try to scan it ). My husband and I have been using the program since we opened our underwater search and recovery business and I must admit I am in love! (With Neatworks, but don’t tell my hubby.. smile ).
March 11th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
I love your products and am looking for a paperless solution to receipts and bills. I like to keep these items for a year or so and scanning them in using a flatbed scanner just gives you a copy, your included software goes beyond that and makes record keeping a breeze. in the past I would scan in receipt and then fill out spreadsheet with details and location of scanned receipt. This will improve accuracy and quality of life as I would need to spend as much time with all the extra work. Your products help the businessman and self employed. i believe your current software imports into Quicken also, another great plus.
Thanks
March 11th, 2010 at 2:45 pm
My wife and I live in a tiny apartment and we have a baby on the way. My study is becoming valuable real estate, and a brief survey reveals that probably half the space is taken up by paper records and documents. There’s no room in the inn anymore. It’s time to clear out the paper and liberate the space for our little one.
March 11th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
I have personal paperwork/tax documents and I also have a home-based business that has it’s share of paperwork and tax documents. Having a NeatDesk scanner located at my desk will allow me to, after entering data into QuickBooks, more efficiently scan, file, and save (then shred), documents. I believe that the NeatDesk will give me peace of mind as it helps me reduce my paper clutter by 75%. Organizing, saving space, and giving freedom is after all the whole idea of my home-based Small Office Organizing business.
March 11th, 2010 at 3:07 pm
I dream of a world with no paper and no cords will this ever be a reality in my lifetime? I would use the NEATDESK to keep the clutter out of my brain and neatly organized. Serenity now!
March 11th, 2010 at 3:16 pm
Love the program and use every week—can’t wait for Mac V3. Is there a link that gives a preview of the new features?
(I saw the interview on MacVoices but would love to know more.)
March 11th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
I have used this software for about 7 months now and it has been very helpful in creating reports as well as tracking tax expenses. I plan on using it for a long time in future.
March 11th, 2010 at 4:18 pm
I want, no need to reclaim my my desktop and filing cabinet. I work up all my reciepts, recipes, newspaper article and tax related papers frequently thru out the year. but in no time at all I am surrounded by a pile of receipts on my desk and very soon after that evrything else reappears. I need a better sword to cut the clutter and NeatDesk will be the ticket. I am a 50+ year old student and an aspiring radiology tech in need of help stemming the tide of papers. NeatDesk to the rescue please!
March 11th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
My unmarried son works off on a pipeline. We he comes home, he has piles of wrinkled up receipts that have been stashed on his dashboard of his truck. He brings them in the house and says “Here Mom”. If I had a neatdesk I could train him to scan the receipts as he gets them. This way when he does find a wife, he will already be trained.
March 11th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
NEATDESK would be great addition to my NEAT RECEIPTS scanner. I would be able to scan all my receipts and documents needed for my taxes and household bills (including double-sided documents in one pass) much faster. I could then finish my taxes on time for a change without getting an extension or passing the extension date. What a relief that would be to both me and my husband! The paper monster is doomed with NEATDESK!
March 11th, 2010 at 4:30 pm
Help! My office is choking on paper, with no more room for another filing cabinet. With NeatDesk, I can carry the filing cabinets to the curb and set up one nice table with NeatDesk on it, and perhaps a fresh rose.
March 11th, 2010 at 4:54 pm
Help me! Help me! Help me!
Drowning in piles that I want to organize, categorize, record details and discard paper.
Only Neat Desk can help.
Please send Neat Desk.
March 11th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
I have three businesses going at the same time. I invested in Neat portable unit last year. My accounting fees have repaid this investment and I actually can read the receipts I have created. Great product!!
March 11th, 2010 at 5:35 pm
It is my goal to get rid of as much paper as possible. Bills, receipts, contracts, tax documents - all organized into Neatworks to make my life cleaner and easier. Personal stuff, business stuff, all stuff goes into the database! I’m already using the portable scanner - sometimes I even use it in my car if I’m not driving. I can’t wait until next tax season!
March 11th, 2010 at 5:57 pm
Neat desk would be an ideal solution for myself. I run a small bookkeeping business, and it would save vast amounts of time an energy.
It would provide a single point of entry, getting all of the documents, such as signed contracts, PO;s proposals, and especially multipaged documents. Sweet. In addition, I was especially please to find out that your most recent update has codes for CRA (Canada Revenue agency) for canadian tax codes. As I am Canadian, live and work in Canada, I would be more than please to put this into service / practice in my business and relize a 20-30 hour a month savings. I would also be more than glad to share my testimonial about the ease of use, and real life productivity tool this would be.
Without a doubt , upon setting up and using it (looks like it is very uuser friendly) I would be able to recomend the products to many of my small business clients as well as train them to use it as well and ssave money. :))
Paper monster? Oh yes.. Neatoffice would help immensly in my business, and my accountant would especially be happy as well, cutting down on this review time of the vast piles of manual reciepts. Did I mention tthat I also have Quickbooks, and it looks like the import to quickbooks would be an additional time saving in my business.
Congratulations to all of your staff, on a well thought out small business Paper saver. GREEEN for sure, Helping us do our Part for positive environmental savings too.
Another time saver as a result of Neatoffice, is it would be an ALL IN ONE solution for doing client files. WHY? We could then scann all pertinate client documents and eliminate boxes upon boxes of information, I could even get to the point of dedicating a staff member full time to scanning and Selling it as a service to some of our clients WOW, what a concept.. Also I just found out the Tax program tthat the accountant uses for doing Business Year end reviews, Could
link direct to a folder that had a copy of the business source documents (in pdf) . Again would I ever make his job easier,, Imagine, instead of dropping off 3 file boxes for review, I place a USB drive with all of the data there? Wouldn’t he be happy.. When I asked him if there would be any cost savings .. ?? He response was of course especially if you use the NEAT software, database it is well organized , and very easy for us to work with.
Yes if we had one neatdesk scanner and it performed as stated , we would most likely get a second one to realize further benifits.
Thanks..
And here’s hoping you remember a potential Canadian small business user in a kindly way.

I am a Canadian user, I have used neat reciept for 4 years with fantastic results. I have promoted it to several clients and assited in 10 installations. NEATDESK would be a big improvement in our office, as it is a faster scanner, and would handle those bigger client jobs, that have multipaged documents.. Also It would handle many other reciepts like the 8×10 reciepts, contracts , insurance documents and so on.
I am especially impressed that Neat Co, followed up one of my recommendations to improve the product with CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) Tax Codes. I downloaded the recent patch, and A SHOUT OUT to your TECH support team.. GOOD JOB GUYS.
As far as productivity, Some of our clients send us the Electronic file folders with all of the organized PDF files as backup documents for thier quickbooks files. Our tax program links direct to these PDF files, and so if we need an inquirry, we don’t waste time calling the client, we examine the records first (electronically) . The other thing that the neat database , and exported data does it assists in our review efforts (documentation audits). For example we can do a data extract such as find all reciepts with amounts over 100.00 . Then we have the documents in pdf that match. The NEATOFFICE would most ideal for our busy small business office, We would be more than glad to do a testimonial , and also continue to referr or recomend this product to many of our small business clients as in the end if they use NEATWORKS, it saves a lot of paper and saves us a lot of time and energy, plus makes document review a whole bunch easier.
And yes if a client prepares records using NEATOffice Neat reciept, we most certainly give the client a significant reduction in year end fees, as well as Tax Preparation fees. Essentially we make sure that the savings in accounting fees exceed the clients cost to purchase Neat Scanners.
So , thanks for thinking of us CANADIAN USERS, and Thanks again for putting in the CRA Tax codes and fixing some bugs.

I’m an artist who has little time for keeping receipts organized - I’d rather create! So at tax time I have a horrendous mess to try and sort through and then enter into a spreadsheet - made worse by the fact that many receipts have faded so badly I can hardly read them - aaargh! A NeatDesk would let me scan the receipts immediately, and get back to my art. And tax time - it would be sooo simple. NeatDesk - truly a work of art!
March 11th, 2010 at 7:56 pm
If you have bought or sold a home lately you know how much paper you received! I’ve been a Realtor for 27 yrs and get 4 to 5 times that much for each file with all parties involved or from research. I have the portable model and love it. I not only use it for my million bits of receipts for tax purposes, but it works so much better than my fax/scanner. I scan in as pdf. client documents to email them…cleaner copy, and more green. The only thing I have discovered is that now I need the desk model to do be more efficient and paperless! The mobile one packs nice for the road too. Can’t recommend enough! Oh, and great to use for grandkids art and notes they give you for a memory book gift.
March 11th, 2010 at 8:04 pm
We purchased our little portable scanner last year. It has been a godsend, as it is my job to file all the paperwork that comes into the house. This came about from what had been my husband’s filing system: paper bags in the back of his car, in his backpack, the closet, etc. I can actually find things now! I am finding however, that the only way that I am going to catch up with all this is to upgrade to the neatdesk, as we are also about to inherit and archive all of my great uncle ken’s 88 years of paperwork as we move him into assisted living. then I could scan almost a whole file at a time. It wouldbe a great timesaver. Please help me make this happen!
March 11th, 2010 at 8:12 pm
NeatDesk for Mac to the rescue! My New Year Resolution was to start scanning all my receipts. Last year. Now, it’s tax time, and I STILL have 4 boxes of receipts to go thru…which is why my taxes aren’t done yet
I work from home, so it’s even more important for me to keep good records. So far, that just isn’t happening. Hopefully, the planets will align and I’ll end up with a NeatDesk for Mac to help me get the chaos under control and reclaim my desk. My NeatDesk.
March 11th, 2010 at 9:04 pm
With four kids, home schooling, and a home business, we are literally BURIED under all the paper. I am tired of losing important tax documents under all the clutter because I need the information ON the clutter. NeatDesk will save us from suffocating!
March 11th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
My daughter has a home based business, so space is a premium. While she is very busy she NEVER enters her receipts in her database. So come tax time she presents me with the ever present shoe box of them. What a joy the Neatdesk would be for us. Everything in it’s place, no more boxes of receipts and one happy mom at tax time.
March 11th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
I have a lot of invoices to keep track of, and work out of my truck so it would be very nice to be able keep a copy of them in my notbook and pull up a copy any time i need to
March 12th, 2010 at 12:49 am
NeatWorks allows me to keep all important financial papers for my business & family organized and easily accessed. When the banker wants a document, I know exactly where to find it. That alone saves me hours. NeatDesk will make the task even easier.
March 12th, 2010 at 1:40 am
I am overflowing with paper, paper, PAPER! I’m actually a sitting fire hazard, so I’d like to reduce that threat by scanning everything: my personal papers and tax records/receipts, the papers for my small business, the papers for my partner’s small business, and the papers for the non-profit that I volunteer for. I want to be paper free and fire hazard free! Neatdesk could help me accomplish this near impossible task — I know it!
March 12th, 2010 at 3:30 am
This would be great because it would allow me to stop filing all the paperwork we have in a filing cabinet and to nicely and neatly put all in digital files so that its easily retrievable and easy to find. We tend to have way to much clutter when it comes to paper items that wind up on the desk, with this I can scan it, file it in a folder and then be able to search for it later if I need it and dispose of the paper altogether. In turn this will actually allow me to create a neat desk.
March 12th, 2010 at 10:22 am
Monster is not a harsh enough word! I loath paper… it stacks… it cuts… it’s heavy… it’s not seachable by keyword… screw paper!
I need the NeatDesk to get this loathsome and unnecessary anomaly out of my life forever. Imagine… scanning and shredding/recycling everything that comes in the mail… Having it all at my keyboard-tips, searchable, and redundantly backed up–without occupying any physical space.
Happy days are here again!!!
March 12th, 2010 at 11:12 am
I have a pile of papers on my desk that need to be scanned and filed. I will let NEATDEAK do all the hard lifting.
March 12th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
I’m in the process of reinventing myself after 30+ years in HR: developing an online business and blog - all related to animals. To say the least, it feels pretty ovewhelming at times. The NeatDesk would be a fantastic solution to an emerging entrepreneur’s sense of business clarity!
March 12th, 2010 at 3:03 pm
I would like to enter the contest to help simplify my filing taxes.
March 12th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Save time, filing space and get my life back. Process the paper in my utility room and reclaim the room for my fly fishing and model airplane stuff.
March 12th, 2010 at 5:50 pm
I’m visually challenged and it would make my life just about 300% more enjoyable as it would drastically cut my data input time into Quick Books.
March 12th, 2010 at 10:20 pm
I would simply have it on my desk next to my monitor and when I came in at the end of the week I would scan all of my reports, business cards, receipts and packing slips. Take a few minutes to store them in their proper place file away the hard copies and be done with it until next week. From all the reviews I’ve read it will be as simple as that.
March 12th, 2010 at 10:29 pm
At the end of each month, I scan in my receipts & file them according to business/personal and then individual deductible categories within those two. Saves me a huge headache when tax time comes around, when I can mail the whole database to my accountant! Amazingly easy and the machine itself takes up practically no space. I love it.

NeatWorks for Mac has gone a long way to make the Tax Monster disappear into a small folder and become quite tame, but once you get us Mac folks the update that contains all the incredibly helpful tax-category filing and reporting options it will be simply awesome. At that point, the Monster will no doubt squeak sadly and limp out of my life.
March 13th, 2010 at 7:34 pm
Every year at Tax time the computer desk is filled with paper work,Receipts,& tax forms. With NEATDESK I know that would be the perfect solution for this problem.
March 13th, 2010 at 7:39 pm
Just spent last week counting my receipts for 2009 taxes….I really want to make 2009 last year i had to do it…I must start filing my receipts and and other documents as i buy lots and lots of materials for my job and they pile up very quickly. NeatWork seems as a perfect addition for my mac, and stress free future tax season.
March 13th, 2010 at 8:00 pm
I spend a great deal of time flying. The Neat system travels easily, so by the time I land everything is done! All the little scraps of paper and receipts are reduced to recycle by the time the cabin door opens. Because it is so compact and easy to use, it can be easily operated in a fully booked coach cabin!
March 14th, 2010 at 1:46 pm
My stacking and shoving papers into a file has proven unsuccessful. Even when I try to organize everything into the file cabinet, it has failed to keep organized. I would pull something out for my husband and he would put it into one of those notorious piles. Then I got these really cute boxes for the shelves and paper has been put in them and frankly, I can’t find anything. How could I tame the paper monster? Do away with the file cabinets and scan EVERYTHING! Sorting, piling, filing - UGH! Less is best! Those cute boxes could be used for office supplies.
March 14th, 2010 at 8:40 pm
If i would have Neatworks on my mac i would scan all my receipts to have an easier tax season next year. And soon i would even make my small home office nearly completely paperless by scanning all my letters and documents and recycling all the left over paper.
March 15th, 2010 at 1:13 am
Everyone knows you need to keep your tax returns and all supporting documents for three years after you file, in case of an IRS audit. I am tired of keeping thick binders with all the stuff (W-2’s, 1099’s, receipts, etc.) So I would use my NeatDesk to scan in all of those documents and save them to create a totally paperless tax return file. Now all I have to do is to remember to back up my data!
March 15th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
Anyone who’s ever had to deal with medical bills knows how long and complex they are, spread over many pages just to keep you on your toes. That’s before you have the test results, follow up test results (”And when was x last tested for y?” two weeks ago!!) and lets not forget the 100 other things you spend money on and need to keep track for tax - and your sanity! - mileage parking, meals, medical supplies for use at home. Sigh. So yes winning this neat little device would let me reclaim some of my office space, and feel more confident that I could have the right information at my fingertips - and so would my husband, just in case :)Sanity can wait a little longer, maybe an optional extra with neatdesk 2.0
March 15th, 2010 at 5:39 pm
if i had a NeatDesk will help you reduce paper clutter and simplify your life at tax time because when i would get it really for tax season early next year and would not have to hours and hours of work and my nice cherrywood desk would be clean for more then once a year.
March 16th, 2010 at 3:57 pm
OMGosh….The very best thing about NeatWorks (I currently own the mobile scanner) is that receipts don’t “disappear” and become an unreadable or blank piece of paper (so many receipts are still on thermal paper or use disappearing ink anyway). Even a few months after putting receipts away, dates can’t be read much less what you purchased and I feel a whole lot safer with my Schedule C now that I know I have permanent, readable documentation) Oh BTW did I mention Back Up….no matter what make sure to BACK UP your files on portable media, other than your computer, so easy to do. THANK YOU NEATCOMPANY!!! And oh another BTW, I would sure love to have the desktop version so I would use it daily or at least weekly. I am a procrastinator, so I am now doing one year’s worth with the mobile scanner
!!
March 16th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
Boxes full of receipts be gone. I would love to transition to a true paperless home office. The last hold out for me has been managing my paper receipts. I’ve wanted one of these for over 2 years!
March 16th, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Dear Neat Folks,
Well my desk overlooks St Margarets Bay near Chester Nova Scotia, I watch Loons, Otters and Lobster Boats throughout the year, as well as amazing sunsets and Mother Nature in all her forms. Unfortunately my desk is lost in a sea of paper and I am banished to my kitchen table with a view of my driveway,
This is not right !! Please send Neat Desk soon.
Signed,
Ocean Lover
March 16th, 2010 at 11:18 pm
Love my NeatWorks. My files use to be bulging at the seams with receipts. I am so glad to be rid of that. I am so organized. Would love to have the NeatDesk.
March 17th, 2010 at 7:39 am
This is what i have beenn looking for ! Love it
March 17th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
I would use NeatDesk to save money, save time, and save the planet! My wife and I have a new baby. We were prepared for her to alter our budget, but didn’t figure on how the little one would alter our budgeting process. Suddenly, we have a whole new set of tax-deductible expenses, but when I get home from work at night, I’d much rather make a baby giggle than manually enter receipts for the day and file them appropriately. So, our expense/tax tracking has fallen far behind.
Furthermore, if I didn’t have to keep the paper copy of all our receipts, I would shred them after scanning to use them as mulch in the new organic garden we’re planting in our back yard.
March 17th, 2010 at 5:43 pm
If I had a Neatdesk it would help me organize the bucket, yes bucket of receipts I have sitting on the floor beside our computer. The Neatdesk would take me from the stone age into the 21st century.
March 18th, 2010 at 4:13 pm
I work out of several offices and have collected piles and files in each. I would love to have everything scanned into one location. It would be great if Neatco offered or partnered with a online repository.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:53 am
We have more than a paper monster in our home…we don’t have enough space for a home office, and I swear that the monster that eats the socks from my laundry dryer also eats the receipts from my husbands business. My husband is a framing carpenter and has recently had all of his tools and equipment stolen out of his locked trailer. We had moved house just 3 days prior to that. Stressful, you say?
My husband missed days of work, and therefore days of pay, searching for the appropriate documentation to submit to the insurance company. Some of the receipts that he did find were so faded (thermal paper receipts) that the type and numbers were unrecognizable! So, for tax time and for unforeseen emergencies at unbelievably inappropriate times in life- we really need a NeatDesk!
March 20th, 2010 at 2:13 pm
I’m single so I have to do everything in my life from pick up the dry cleaning to bringing home the paycheck and it isn’t easy playing all the bases & being the batter. NeatDesk is what the doctor ordered for this single, self-employed damsel in paper overload. I see it now; shining like the tip of Harry Potter’s wand and scanning my life into order & free me from the unpaid hours I slave away for Uncle Sam trying to keep track of my papers.
March 20th, 2010 at 3:46 pm
In attempting to model how an efficient, results-oriented, document-intensive, healthcare company can run, my little start-up, single-therapist private practice operates sans paper records. I have only a virtual filing cabinet, use PDF forms as much as possible and write patient documentation electronically. I work out of an 11′x9.5′ treatment space for manual therapy so room is at a premium. NeatDesk looks to have a loving home in this environment, wherein I can coordinate all in-bound business and clinical documents into an organized “landing strip”. I look to market this way of practicing to fellow clinicians still stuck in the Stone Age of paper trails and paper logjams. Regardless of who wins, thanks for a great modern solution to an age-old problem.
March 20th, 2010 at 10:26 pm
To tell you the truth this is the first time i ever heard of the NeatDesk. I would love to own one to organize all my papers and reciepts stuck in a box. it would be heaven to me. I am a follower for along time and I also tweeted your tweet. @MCJunkie on twitter.

March 22nd, 2010 at 10:52 am
Ever have a problem with thermopaper receipts? The ones you leave in the car and after a hot day the printing magically vanishes? Neat desk would let me store the information so I could “chill in the heat”
March 22nd, 2010 at 6:26 pm
This would so help me reduce the number of pieces of paper I have in my life. I could search them all in an instant too. Finding stuff is a pain.
March 22nd, 2010 at 7:26 pm
I have multiple companies and multiple states I have to file. Yah, sounds like some kind of mogul, but these are very small businesses that together put the food on the table. The problem is that it produces mounds of paperwork with tax time being a challenge. Travel receipts of various sizes, business cards, and bills all need to be filed yet usually pile up on the desk. Don’t mess with those piles! Technical bulletins, research papers, journal articles, test results, all need to be scanned and filed. I don’t have time to mess with things and waste time babysitting cumbersome technology. I like the gadgets and am pretty techy, but I like things that work. That’s why I use a Mac. It looks to me like the Neat scanners would do that too, just work.
March 23rd, 2010 at 8:56 am
I feel I am drowning in paper. We try to use electronic bills as much as possible. But shopping you get so many receipts. I enter into our money software and then shred but keep the ones for taxes or warranty/returns. And some of these fade so you can’t read. NeatDesk would be so wonderful for this. Thanks for the giveaway. I am glad I found your site.
March 24th, 2010 at 1:56 am
It would be so exciting to gain floor space after I throw out my 2 filing cabinets. however, more importantly, it’ll be great to have access to my files wherever I am. Previously, I’d have to call my wife if I was away and she’d struggle to find a document I was looking for and fax it to me. Unfortunately, I’m not always by a fax machine. With a Neatco Scanner, I could carry every doc on a thumb drive or upload everything online. beautiful! Can’t wait to get one!
March 25th, 2010 at 12:50 pm
We are full-time RVers and space is premium for us! Needless to say if we can use NeatDesk to store and eliminate the papers and receipts we seem to accumulate in our travels it would be great. Additionally, we are always looking for ways to eliminate weight in our fifth-wheel which in turn translates to better fuel economy. NeatDesk would be a great help for us to accomplish this end. Bring it on!
March 26th, 2010 at 8:03 am
I can’t begin to explain how incredibly helpful a Neat Desk would be!! In my dreams, I I imagine a life without filing extensions, and having an at a glance picture of where we are and what we are spending. As a business owner who’s also a parent and spouse, I need help keeping it all together!! Please, please pick me!
March 27th, 2010 at 5:47 pm
It would certainly make tax time a breeze with Neat Receipts. Everything would already be organized with the software that accompanies this product. I would LOVE to rid my desk of all the paper that accumulates.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:31 am
Paper receipts are evil. Good riddance clutter! I want a NeatDesk.
March 30th, 2010 at 7:18 am
I would use the NeatDesk for my photography business that I just opened up. It would be so helpful to keep all my invoices and other expense receipts organized, rather than floating around my house or in a manilla envelope somewhere “safe” and then I can’t find it when it comes time to do taxes. Yes, I can most certainly use the NeatDesk!
March 30th, 2010 at 10:32 am
I am a controller of a small business. The owner does a lot of traveling and purchases numerous business items. Managing his receipts, documents and collected business cards is becoming completely impossible. I dream of a NEAT Desk every day.
March 30th, 2010 at 11:45 am
We are not very organized with keeping track of receipts and tax related documents. We typically keep piles in several locations around the house, although the intent it to properly file them. We just never get around to it. I would place this little angel in a prominent place in the living room, where almost all mail is opened, and use it immediately to scan new documents and receipts. Since the family computer is in the living room, this would work perfectly for us.
March 30th, 2010 at 11:49 am
Short and sweet. Home receipts plus business expense receipts co-mingle. Multiple “filing systems” instigated. 100% failure. Spouse not happy, therefore everyone not happy. Perhaps this could be the answer to eternal paperless bliss?
March 30th, 2010 at 11:49 am
Neat Receipts would allow me to have all of my receipts on file, without having to fill up a filing cabinet, and be able to find one quickly if I need it.
March 30th, 2010 at 11:55 am
Our family’s “receipt bag” is hideous and embarrassing — a plastic grocery bag overflowing with store receipts and paid monthly bills. I would love to scan and dispose of all the paperwork and “go green”!
March 30th, 2010 at 11:57 am
Our situation is a bit different. My wife and I have grown our family by 4 recently through adoption. There is so much paperwork involved in the process prior to finalization that our desk is a wreck. This would allow us to keep all the information close and in one spot. And then when tax season rolls around next year we will not drown in paperwork.
March 30th, 2010 at 11:58 am
Archiving documents has become one of my top priorities. Receipts, statements, invoices, manuals, recipes, articles, and notes. One bottleneck has been the timely and reliable scanning of receipts into Quicken. Neat Receipts to the rescue!
March 30th, 2010 at 11:58 am
I direct a University Institute that trains humanitarian aid workers from all over the world. Our courses are held in New York, Dublin, Delhi, Nairobi, Barcelona, Managua. I would use the Neat Desk to take all of the paperwork that is generated for these programs - now in fifteen file cabinets and reduce them to none. It would be the first humanitarian Neat Desk.
March 30th, 2010 at 11:59 am
Neat Desk would solve a ton of problems for me. I’m self-employed, working out of a home office and am constantly running out of space. The semi-annual purges just aren’t doing to the trick any longer. 25 year’s worth of paper takes up a lot of space. I would be SO NICE to no longer be drowning in a sea of paper!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:01 pm
As a published author, I fight the Paper Monster every day. Although I can (partially) tame my manuscript problem by exchanging electronic versions with my publisher, I still have paper contracts, notes, bills, and receipts to deal with! My clunky flat scanner is too time consuming and painful to use, and I don’t get DATA from it, only images. I’d love to use NeatDesk for Mac to archive contracts and keep them searchable, as well as reading/processing bills and receipts for my taxes.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
Just a wonderful way to process receipts, documents and contacts for digital storage. The ability to maintain files on your computer or any storage device to the depth Neat Works allows you to, gives you a complete record for recall at any time. Business cards, contracts, letters either single or double sided are as easy as a click of your mouse. The folders and smart folders allow you to organize all of the paperwork in a professional way, allowing for quick reference and recall; whether just to remind yourself or print, edit or email-the choice is yours. The flexibility of the program gives you complete control over your digital files and removes the necessity of maintaining hard copy and bulky files. It brings you into the digital age with a top of the line product that you will ask yourself; “How did I do without NeatWorks?”
March 30th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
I will scan all receipts with Neat Desk, reducing paper clutter, and keeping everything organized, categorized and backed up via Time Machine. Tax time means searches using Neat Desk to retrieve receipts tagged as tax related.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:05 pm
A NeatDesk would be the perfect solution for my 2010 taxes i NEVER itemize because i can’t keep track of everything. Plus, it would be the perfect solution for 2010 paperless office initiative, trying to be a little greener this year… i have already switched to mostly e-bills, but he receipts have overrun my desk, i tried to use my HP ScanJet 4600, but it no longer works properly since 10.6. This would be AWESOME, I’ve wanted one ever since Andy Ihnatko picked it on MBW… price is just a bit salty in these times.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
I am the mother of seven children between 1 and 11. I have paper flying at me from all people in all directions at all times. I also maintain and run a freelance art and design licensing business in the wee hours of the night when all wee ones are sleeping. I am bleery eyed but happy and on a mission to conquer all flying bits of paper within reach both personally and professionally. I am an avid technology gadget addict and NeatDesk would fulfill all the above needs as a mother of a large family, household director, handler of all households schedules and bills, secretary for husband and professional artist! That is a LOT of paper to manage. NeatDesk looks like a GREAT SOLUTION!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:08 pm
Scanning all medical related receipts right when you get them would be a huge help come tax time when you have to add up your deductions.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:10 pm
I have been lusting after a NeatDesk for some time now. I want one to reduce my receipt clutter and make tax filing easier by calculating out-of-pocket medical and business expenses. And if I ever get audited, I’ll have all the receipts ready to go!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
My mom does all the record keeping for my parents restaurant but she is very “old school”. They use all hand written tickets which she checks and records manually and then stores every days receipts in a bankers box, of which she now has probably about 100. I think that your scanner would be the perfect thing she needs to help streamline her work. In addition to her business’ records she also takes care of the household’s bill and taxes, and again follows the same method. If she had you’re product I know that she would love it, and the multitude of options that NeatDesk has would definitely make her share your product with her other business friends, who like her still record everything manually.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:17 pm
I would use the neat desk to scan all my paper work faster to be able to email and conduct business faster. It would also be great to have a clear desk and save on paper not to mention ink
March 30th, 2010 at 12:17 pm
I would use this to organize and digitize my cookbooks!!!!! Healthy eating might be good for the body but an organized pantry is good for the soul!!!! Maybe I’ll even feed the monster, if I can leave the machine alone long enough!!!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:17 pm
It would be amazing to get rid of all that paper that clutters my desk.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:20 pm
Planning to sell a house and build a house (self contracted) this year (and live temporarily in VERY small quarters). The neat desk would be a lifesaver to manage all that paperwork!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:20 pm
If I had a NeatDesk Scanner and filing system I would be able to shred the years of paper work my wife insists we keep! Two filing cabinets would be tossed to the curb. She is a CPA and gets very obsessed with keeping records. We are some what paperless with e-bills but I yearn to re-claim a portion of my basement.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:20 pm
We will use all Neat Desk’s utilities for our taxes, receipts, etc. It should enable us to archive all of our children’s old art work and school papers (which take up many storage boxes) for their posterity.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:21 pm
I would finally begin to realize my dream of a paperless office. I am sick of having little piles of paper everywhere and not finding the time to sort them or file them properly.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:22 pm
Issue: Can’t find the receipt I need when I need it
Solution: Use Neat Desk to organize them
Issue: Too many “hiding places” for things I know I will need in the future
Solution: Use Neat Desk to be the one place I need to look
Issue: Receipts that fade with age
Solution: A permanent receipt that will be readable when I need to read it
THANK YOU!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:22 pm
Having a central location to store and classify your documents for tax purposes, and personal data information would greatly benefit the efforts to save our forests. It appears that The Neat Company would be system to meet my needs to further de-clutter my desk and keep paper documents to a minimum
March 30th, 2010 at 12:23 pm
Oh my! I MUST have one of these! If I could post a picture of the table (my desk) that I’m sitting at right now…you would know why I am so excited about this. We call it Paper Mountain in our home and we tell the children to not touch it or else there may be an avalanche. Just yesterday, my husband and I tore the house apart looking for 2 pieces of paper that we need for our tax appointment on the 8th! I you pick me, my husband will thank you!!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:23 pm
NeatDesk would make me happier because my wife would be happier. My personal inbox is crammed full of receipts, documents, and Photoshop how-to articles torn from my photo magazines. And, of course, I can never find what I need in the pile. NeatDesk would be the perfect accessory for my Mac. And my life.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:25 pm
i wish i could attach a picture of my desk- it seriously looks like a tornado blew through here a couple years back and the clean up crew never came because the government didn’t have emergency funding, nor do i…and the mountain keeps growing. did you see the sign on the side of the road that says watch out for landslides? they’re talking about my desk. i can’t find anything any more. my old scanner went gambling, rolled the dice, & just crapped out a few months ago. nothing has been the same since. oh lord i hope this helps…i don’t even want to think about taxes and time is running out quick. my accountant is not going to be my friend (or my accountant!) after the mess i bring in. this product would solve so many problems!!! please help!!!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:26 pm
Tqxes, schmaxes!!
I do a lot of consulting, and need to submit receipts to be reimbursed for expenses, to say nothing of submitting hours. Being able to scan all that paper, and then being able to find whatever I need, lickety-split, would be heaven.
Oh, and then when the tax man cometh… Ah!!!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
The Neat system would definitely benefit me in compiling my documents into one easy retrievable location. Being able to place each document for tax purposes, personal information would be a definite plus
March 30th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
As a very unorganized person who tends to talk to the banks, IRS, DMV and every other paper producing agency way too often due to losing information right and left I hope to revolutionize the way I organize my hectic life. April 15 is dreaded, but perhaps with Neat Desk the nightmare of tax returns and year long filing will be gone! I NEED THIS
March 30th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
Saving paper, ink and time has become real with Neat. From tax time to important legal documents for the safe deposit box and everything in between, NeatDesk is exactly what it means, no more clutter with file cabinets taking up space bulging with torn papers, receipts and sharp staples. At Macworld I finally realized the true value of the digital age and put it to work in my own life making everything alot easier. NeatDesk is truly a Neat idea whose time has come.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
I am self-employed, and taxes can be a heavy burden every year. Being able to write-off businesses expenses such as technology and office supplies save me quite a bit of money.
However, keep them organized can be a challenge - especially in a home office. I would use Neat Desk to help organize my receipts and other tax documents, and to reduce the amount of paper used to print and store those documents.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:29 pm
I would use Neat Desk as a way to reclaim my sanity and my guest room. I often feel a slave to receipts and overwhelmed by trying to track and store them. Neat Desk would be my best friend and confidante—storing my consumer life and keeping it sorted and making sense. Please Neat Desk, save me!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:29 pm
This sounds like just what I need to make doing taxes for my wife’s real estate business a lot easier. It takes me hours to go through all of her receipts and then record them to the different expense categories.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:30 pm
I so have been drooling over Neat Receipts for ever! I am a minimalist, and that means I hate having paper (especially receipts) hanging around! I like having everything organized! With Neat receipts everything would be organized, just the way I like it. I could find all my receipts easily, instead of digging through the shoeboxes in my closet! This would reduce allot of my stress, as in all their wisdom they stuck tax season right on top of university final exams.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:31 pm
Now I lay on my flat bed scanner how ever many receipts that will fit at a time, scan, cut, size, rename and file receipts and documents. What a wonderful time saver the NeatReceipts would be for me and my business!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:32 pm
A NeatDesk would be indispensable for winnowing down my wife’s piles of papers, which have taken over our kitchen and dining room (but, coincidentally, not our office…)
I can’t locate our tax paperwork because it’s buried in a pile somewhere. I guess we’ll be filing for an extension this year, even though we’ll be getting a refund
March 30th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
I would put innit those…those things wot got words inem.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:35 pm
I go to different offices and help them with their bookwork. I would use the Neat Receipts to get rid of ALL their paper monsters. Scanning to PDF for all of their important papers and scanning all purchases. (They are much easier to find on the computer then in a file cabinet-plus it saves all the storage room, filing supply expense and time filing time!) After all my clients see how easily it can be done….. they will all want one!
Please pick me! I am so excited about this! I have looked at your web site many, many times wishing I could afford to purchase one!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:36 pm
First, I would connect my NEAT to my iMac and carve out the time to begin the scanning/organizational process. From the desk drawer, to the scanner, to the shredder. Sounds too good to be true! Going paperless, to digital NEAT filing sounds like it will un-clutter my personal world. I’ve been a Quicken user for as long as I can remember, and adding NEAT to to my system sounds like the perfect interface. Finally, at the end of the day - providing me all the tools necessary to properly prepare my return using TurboTax. As one of your winners, I would use the opportunity to share my NEAT digital experience with family, friends and neighbors!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:36 pm
I have a small desk with no drawers. NeatDesk would REALLY help me out!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:39 pm
I would use NeatDesk to scan all business related documents, including receipts. I travel a lot and spend my time when I get home going through documents and filing, and going through my stacks of receipts for expense reports. NeatDesk would greatly cut down the filing and help keep me organized.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:45 pm
If everyone had one of these could be finally get rid of the FAX machine?
March 30th, 2010 at 12:45 pm
I would copy all my significant purchase receipts as proof of ownership in case of theft or tornados !
March 30th, 2010 at 12:50 pm
I was laid off from my job two weeks ago. Next year at tax time (hopefully I’ll have a job by then!), I’d use NeatDesk to scan in all the receipts not just for the usual tax items, but for all the receipts and mileage logs and unemployment check receipts as well.
Winning the NeatDesk would be one less expense I don’t need right now and I’d still be ready for Tax Day, 2011!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:52 pm
NeatDesk saves some much time and physical space. Documents scanned look great and are easily searchable with Spotlight. Report creation is a dream. It’s a life changer.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:53 pm
I would chuckle in the face of audit as I handed the IRS a single DVD.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:56 pm
I would use the system to rid my desk and filing cabinet from all of the clutter that has piled up over the years. I am searching for an eco friendly way of archiving everything into a digital format so I can recycle the paper I have. This system seems like it’d be the ideal solution for me!

I own an IT consulting company and we are always busy with projects. We are constantly saving design ideas, articles, logos, business cards, letters, receipts, diagrams, contracts, etc. Having to go through the files several weeks or months later to find that one piece of paper that we need is so time consuming. It would make our company much more efficient if we used the Neat Desk system. I look forward to having one and being able to organize and quickly search for the document we need. GREAT PRODUCT !
March 30th, 2010 at 1:02 pm
I resolve to digitize all paper that comes to my office - and shred it immediately thereafter. I’ve just gone through 10 years of saved receipts in preparation for a move - NEVER AGAIN!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:05 pm
Being a non-profit means more control of paperwork and uncle sam is really sticky about a paper trail so we can maintain our tax exempt status. Since the Chile earthquake, our primary reason for fund raising, the paperwork has exploded (fictionally) on my desk and on the floor and the desk in the next office.
I would really love a Neat Scanner, but since we are a nonprofit, its a luxury item.
March 30th, 2010 at 1:07 pm
NEAT DESK seems to be the Next Step to sustain my living paperless. I have been living virtually between 3 states since I lost my job last April. I downsized and stored everything accept my MacBook Pro, iphone and Honda Civic Hybrid, in search of a new job and greener way of life. NEAT DESK should help me streamline the Apple technology I use now— while I collect multiple receipts, business cards, brochures, research papers and catalogues from networking at job fairs and researching starting a green business. NEAT DESK means cleaning my paper-filled trunk so my Hybrid will finally get better mileage again. Known for being a “clutter bug” for years—I am thrilled that Pack Rats no longer have to die hard with NEAT DESK!!!
Don’t give me a reason to relapse.
March 30th, 2010 at 1:07 pm
It’s not just the piles - it’s not just the home records, small business records, non-profit volunteering records, the family history…it’s the approach to administrivia in life - it ought to be smooth, clutter free and support calm, accountability and posterity. A tall order, but perhaps this tool could do the trick.
March 30th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I do not need a Neat Desk. I really love the stacks, no mountains, really, of papers on my desk, and my adjacent desk, and on the floor. I just do not need it.
This system of mine is working so well for me now.
{Dawn of realization}
Of course, I need the Neat Desk! Please, let me simplify my life and shred these untold scores of pounds of paper. Plus, I’d love a desk to work on (finally).
March 30th, 2010 at 1:16 pm
Three years I started a consulting company. I no longer have a desk, which is somewhere in my bedroom. I believe I have a wife in there somewhere in that room too. I would use Neat Desk to remove the clutter and reclaim my desk. Oh, I am also looking forward to finding my wife in there somewhere too. Thank you Neat Company !!!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
I would use the system to make every thing a file on the computer, wouldn’t have to keep all the receipts. file all the credit card receipts. I do plan on buying someones this year, have not read any good reports on your software or scanner.
March 30th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
I have MOUNTAINS of files in big, fat, ugly file cabinets. You know, the metal ones with that 80’s style beige color. I would use Neat Desk to scan all of the old documents for historical purposes and then use it religiously to make sure that my record remain electronic, organized and categorized. The countless hours I spend put files together for my accountant would be a thing of the past. I would also help with my personal green agenda by allowing me to immediately recycle all of that paper that otherwise collects in those ugly file drawers. Hopefully that would lead to recycled paper rather than cutting down more trees.
WAIT! Use a Neat Desk, save the planet!!!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:27 pm
I could finally kick the PAPER MONSTER out of my house. Not only would I use it for tax season….but also use it year round, get rid of the PILES of paperwork, boxes and plastic totes full of paperwork that have to be gone through organized, file away, information entered into the computer under bills, Medical EOB’s, receipts etc. I am currently trying to go through all the boxes of totes of paperwork trying to find the receipt for a camera I bought like 11 months ago for the warranty to get it repaired. Being a mother of three children young ones at that, when can I have the time and space to go through it properly, organize it, file it without the kids disrupting my time or the piles I would have to have to organize it.
March 30th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
NeatDesk could help liberate my wallet from doing double duty as a leather filing folder for receipts. With a slimmer wallet, my purse size could shrink, my shoulders could realign, my health improve and I could cross off the New Years resolution to get more organized, all this I would credit to NeatDesk.
March 30th, 2010 at 1:33 pm
Can I confess something? I work in the print industry and I HATE PAPER! Well, not catalogs and such as I make my living at that, but paper receipts, bills, contracts, etc….they need to just go away. So what would my Neat scanner do for me? First, I could reduce the boxes of files I have to lug from state to state as required by IRS law (try finding one receipt in a mountain of boxes in a storage unit). Second, I could reduce the landfill nightmare that we’re creating as a society and contribute to the Green revolution. Third, I could spend less time filing, storing and shredding stuff and more time being a productive member of (paperless) society! Pick me, and I promise I’ll become a one-person advocate for Neat’s product line!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
PAPER IS A PAIN IN THE ***! I can never find what I am looking for because I have so many receipts and paperwork! Between the businesses, my wifes stuff, the kids stuff and my stuff my life is consumed with paperwork, especially during tax time! Please pick me to win the Neat Receipt so you dont find my cold dead body buried under stacks and stacks of paperwork! My life depends on it! Thanks for saving my life in advance!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:38 pm
Being a single dad with 5 sons aged 3yrs to 14yrs I’ll let you attempt to imagine the gong-show my life can be at times!! By necessity my life is lived at a pace matching the full-throttle pace at which my sons live. This is less than conducive to keeping neat, organized files & records.
Not only would I use NeatDesk for my Mac Mini to to create a safe haven for all my MANY financial documents, but I would also use it to store and organize all the homework assignments and school activity announcements which never seem to end!
NeatDesk, WILL YOU MARRY ME?!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
I am a bookkeeper and payroll manager for a group of 21 different companies and spend a good part of my day simply filing and retreiving receipts, records of employment, etc. I have tried other digital solutions but have encountered glitches an horrendous driver support, as well as poor reliability. It would be great to have a reliable and well supported solution to my problems, I would save hours of filing every week!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:50 pm
The NeatDesk would def help me organize all my paper & that unruly file cabinet!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:58 pm
I always feel like I am going to need some receipt or info off an old paper bill… though I probably never will, it sure would be a lot less space and clutter than my paper filing “system” to scan the papers and buy a shredder!
March 30th, 2010 at 2:02 pm
No more bag full of receipts waiting to be input - the OCR and forms would get all that out of the drawer and organized into a spreadsheet. Plus, the Neat Desk would be handy in reducing the general paper clutter around the house and make everything searchable at the same time, and look good doing it.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
I have made the decision to go completely paperless! I’ve been scanning all my receipts, payroll statements, equipment manuals and so much more with the Neat Receipts Mobile Scanner and 3.0 for Mac. I am going through three years of past business and personal… taxes scanning it ALL. I have turned on several friends of the world of neat receipts and if I win would love to give my current mobile scanner to my sister and with the speed of the Neat Desk scan everything in site whole house and office that I can.
I LOVE the ability to search past receipts for warranty purposes and the fact it imports receipts right to the app from web purchases. I have gotten in the habit of once a week importing all the documents and receipts of the week into NeatWorks. Full duplex scanning and the speed would be a dream.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
This is my desk: http://yfrog.com/3zw9aj It is covered with old tax returns, forms for my 90 year old grandfather, for whom I’m legally responsible, calendars with important dates for my two children, 8 & 5, health insurance info, credit card receipts, etc. HELP!
March 30th, 2010 at 2:08 pm
This would save my relationship. My partner groans at the mountain of paper, in various sizes sitting in a pile under a post-it note that states…important…receipts for taxes! Neat Receipts for eliminate this problem entirely!!!!
March 30th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
Neat desk? Neat receipts? My family would fall over if I ever got my stacks of paper off of my desk, the kitchen counter and the table in the den….all of my “I’m getting organized and cleaning up” places. Stacks and stacks of paper. Our 1 year old was in the hospital for 5 months, the pile of doctors bill, hospital bill, lab bills, and insurance company explanation of benefits is over 3 feet high! Oh to be able to get rid of all that paper and get organized and then be able to talk sensibly with the insurance company!!!! I am also a small business owner and this would be great for business and helping me juggle all the balls or should I say paper, can you juggle paper?
March 30th, 2010 at 2:18 pm
I am a lousy role model for my just turned 16 year old daughter when it comes to organization. My late husband was a Mac genius and knew how to organize everything. I didn’t learn those skills, so now, it’s up to me, and my desk is a suffocating example of how much I need help. I am also a school teacher, so I have heaps of documents, clippings, and records to track. I want to help my daughter gain great organizing skills before she heads off to college. What would help me accomplish all of these things? Yes-NeatDesk! NeatDesk would serve so many purposes personally, professionally and parentally.
Agh-gh-gh-gh. The sound you hear is pleading coming from under a heap of paper.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
Wow! This is a great idea - not just for tax time - though it would be great to scan documents and file them under Taxes 2010 and deal with it later. I think there are numerous items that pile up that could be scanned and filed - much the way we do bookmarks for locations on the internet. I think this is great. Plus, my wife’s business uses countless documents - she could enter the office of the future that our culture has been talking about since the late seventies.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:41 pm
I could scan and discard papers and receipts just as fast as they came in! I try to do it now, but the scanner and software are awkward and clumsy.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:47 pm
I have always meant to create my office. Even going through high school my thoughts were always that I would be an accountant or involved with numbers someday. I still remind myself how weird I am.
I’m in my 30’s now. Hold a B.F.A in theatre, have a regular job, plus my aspiring career as an actor.
So when it comes to tax time I have to stay organized between my regular job plus my self-employed one. I recently bought a 2-drawer filing cabinet that holds my papers and never really gets organized. What does stay organized though? My Macbook Pro.
In addition, this year 2 of my best friends and myself created a joint-business for our company where I was self-appointed acting treasurer! Why would I do such a thing? Because bizarrely I get excited about numbers. Feel like this will be that boost to create my office maybe? I have bank programs on my mac that I’m testing demos for to pick just that right one…and I’ve seen Neat Receipts before but figured I could never afford it. Maybe Neat Receipts will be that extra bit of help to get my organization up to my hopes and expectations.
Thanks.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
My desk is covered with notes, assignments, forms, data sheets, etc. Having a Neat Desk would allow me to more carefully organize stuff before I spill coffee on it, step on it, or get gum stuck to it.
And now, all my students will believe I am organized when really, my computer becomes akin my closet at home (a depository for those things I don’t have time to properly put away).
March 30th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
IF I had a neat desk, I could stop using my old (and slow) Powerbook 5300 and Paperport scanner.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:57 pm
Neat Receipts could save our marriage! This way I don’t have to worry about my husband losing the receipts come tax time.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:59 pm
I would use NeatDesk to keep all of my receipts, whatever the size, on my Mac where they are securely backed up. Then, I can take my deductions with the peace of mind of knowing that if I got audited, my NeatDesk records would defend me (the IRS does accept electronic copies of receipts).
March 30th, 2010 at 3:05 pm
I’m surrounded by paper! Everywhere I turn, there are receipts and statements and other paper that I just can’t defeat. The fight in me is nearly gone and I’m ready to give in to the Paper Monster. The Neat Receipts would be the weapon that allows me to continue the fight and ultimately vanquish the Paper Monster once and for all! Please HELP!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
I HAVE MILLIONS (AT MINIMUM) OF RECIPES THAT NEED TO BE SCANNED, SORTED BY CUISINE. RIGHT NOW WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR IS LOST IN A PILE OF PAGES TORN FROM MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS THAT FRIENDS SEND ME, LITERATURE THAT I PICK UP AT FOOD DEMONSTRATIONS ETC. PLEASE HELP ME.
March 30th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
I cannot even to begin how much aid neat desk would be. Two years ago I was in a serious car accident causing me to have a stroke. Currently I am doing therapy and I have just begun school again. Not only would the neat receipt help me organize the main bills for products I submit to insurance, but the many insurance forms I receive. I receive a lot. As well I could use it to keep tabs of what my own budget is. My therapist is trying to get me to be self reliable and organized and I’m sure this would help!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
Our business process includes paperwork for contracts, change orders, credit card authorizations, etc for that fills several filing cabinets. It takes a significant amount of time to keep up with the filing. Still, this leaves our Sales Reps no capability to access the files remotely. If we were to use NeatDesk to scan all of these documents as they came into the office, we could not only save filing time and file space, we could put the files on a server that our reps could access remotely. This would give them the capability to look at the customers’ files from a customers business, from home, or on the road. That said, I can only imagine how helpful it would be to me personally as I prepare our corporate tax return. It would be amazing for me to be able to substitute with pdf’s the tons of paper that I’m require to keep on hand. This would improve the overall office efficiency and that would be such a relief!!!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:16 pm
I JUST WANT ONE…
March 30th, 2010 at 3:22 pm
I’m a writer and a semi-pro photographer, so you can imagine what my desk must look like, presuming you could find it. If I had the NeatDesk, not only could I clear my workspace, but I could slay the Paper Monster! This would also help me during tax time to deduct items from my photography business, then if Uncle Sam decided to audit, guess what? I’d not only be able to provide with with my deductions, but scanned proof! Awesome.
March 30th, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Wow. In order to do my taxes I’ve actually got to FIND everything that I need in this mess that my apartment has become. My wife is a real pack-rat and I live surrounded my boxes and boxes of papers, magazines and newspaper clippings. Junk Mailers and Non-Profit beggars have taken over our living space. If it’s important enough for someone to write then my wife feels that it’s important enough for her to read. But she’s DYSLEXIC and has ADD!! So, it takes forever for her to scan through the mounds and mounds of pure trash (IMHO) just to find our checkbook!
HELP!! Please, I’m begging you! If I could digitize even 10% of her (our?? mess, then maybe I could get some of my couch back and I wouldn’t be terrified every April 16th…did I miss something? Something lost in this neverland called home. Is that another 1099-INT?? Oh God, not AGAIN!!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:29 pm
NeatDesk is the dynamic electronic doorway into my computer and the answer to my dreams! My nightmare right now is scanning one document at at time (lifting the scanner lid) entering a useful recognizable filename for later retrieval if necessary (a nightmare in itself). A long and painful process to deal with a stack of bills and tax forms. If I could afford one, I would have one already, then I could sit my filing cabinet and scanner out by the road where old furniture disappears within minutes after being put out there!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
How about this: Instead of stuffing receipts into my pocket or wallet, take a picture of them with my iPhone, convert them into a pdf file with an app like JotNot, email them to myself and import them directly into NeatWorks. That’s what I’d do.
March 30th, 2010 at 3:41 pm
I am working with a team to develop a new student information system in our school district. After hundreds of hours of interviews with staff, teachers, administrators, etc, the papers are piling up. I have all kinds of documents that need organization but have simply been delegated to a desk drawer because I have no way to input them into our system. This would create efficiency for our workflow and let me get out from under the pile of papers that I have. I also work remotely when at school sites, and being able to access these documents from anywhere would be a life saver!
PS. April 15th is my birthday!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:49 pm
I keep receipts, but they end up in boxes or drawers and to be useful need to be gone through to organize before they are of use. (I don’t think I’m alone in doing this.) With Neat Desk I’d be able to “enter” them as soon as I get home (or at least go though the receipts more often than just at tax time) and they’d be all categorized immediately available for use when I need them for my taxes, as well as during the year when I want to analysis my expenditures at any time.
Sound like a pretty useful and cool app.!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
This would be a great solution to the piles of papers attempting to take over my house!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:55 pm
Not only would help me in for tax purposes….it will keep me on track with all the entries, and last but not least, those piles and piles of paper.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:01 pm
Our family moves every 2-3 years and it seems like tax documentation, financial records, medical records/bills, military records, etc keep accumulating as well as becoming even more disorganized. It would be such a miracle to win the NeatDesk for Mac, so my wife and I could scan everything, shred it and take it off to be recycled! We would also use it to scan all of the business cards of associates and friends to keep our contact list updated. Finally, we would use it to scan some old family documents, so that if they are destroyed at least we have electronic versions to share with our children in the future!
March 30th, 2010 at 4:02 pm
What a great way to clear my desk and keep my paperwork organized for the horror of the tax season and the usual procrastination that precedes this annual obligation, thank you
Tom
March 30th, 2010 at 4:08 pm
I have been a long time neat receipt user. I have two corporations that I organize using neat receipt. Without my scanner I would have tons of receipts and complete disorganization. I have made the switch over to Mac and I can’t wait to get my Mac Neat Receipt scanner. This product truly organizes your finances allowing less time to be sent on your accountant. Thank you Neat Receipt!
March 30th, 2010 at 4:14 pm
Oh a Neat Desk would be a dream come true for me and my wife. Instead of hunting down documents at tax time and for rebates, I could have then neatly organized in my computer folders. Awesome.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:14 pm
I have Attention Deficit Disorder, so conventional filing cabinets have always been a challenge for me. Digital databases work better because I can search for relevant articles using “Find”. With my NeatDesk I would be able to digitize all of my interest files and contact lists. Then I would finally be able to file and cross-index my mountains of paper which I would then store on an external hard drive.
My office space would be so much more organized.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
I’ve been waiting for this! I had a little desktop paper scanner hooked up to my SE30, and I loved it! Having everything in one place is so great, and this Neat Receipt scanner will make everything so much easier. I’m in.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:20 pm
What a great way to organize your paper clutter. (The only thing that would make NeatDesk even better is if it could make all those nasty bills and taxes magically disappear!)
March 30th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Neat Desk sounds like what I have been waiting for! Finally, a way to lessen the piles of receipts, papers and reduce the amount of space needed for extra filing cabinets. It sounds like an environmentally friendly way to reduce the needed for paper folders, files and excess materials. Getting organized in a “green way.”
March 30th, 2010 at 4:30 pm
Neat Desk is working fine for my corporation in multiple locations throughout the world.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:37 pm
This device would certainly help me to store important pieces of paper onto my computer so that they would never get lost and I would have a much easier time staying organized. As it is now, I have paper everywhere on my desk so I would love to have something that I could use to clear my desk up forever.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
Every year, the same thing! Going through hundreds of receipts to figure sales tax deductions. This would make the task a few seconds each day in stead of hours at the end of the year. One other plan I have is to scan all receipts for home upgrades to total the value of our residence when it is time to sell and move on. Hundeds, if not thousand of receipts are in the file cabinet awaiting hours of calculation. Thank you for THE SOLUTION!
March 30th, 2010 at 4:53 pm
I could scan my file drawer full of handwritten poetry and send it out to be typed up without having to pay the freight, make photocopies or part with the originals saving me tons of grief.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:00 pm
No kidding, I have a vault the size of a bus for all of my paperwork, and I have to say that my bus sized vault is shrinking quickly. Seven years is a long time to keep anything and with 75 SIGNED invoices a day, six days a week, for seven years? Thats 151,200 invoices. Thats not saying anything about statements, receipts, or anything else to keep the auditors at bay. To find anything during tax season is a nightmare…
March 30th, 2010 at 5:00 pm
I would use it for my expense reports and also for my company receipts and documents, then, and only then might I see what my desk looks like.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:09 pm
I will scan items as I receive them rather than trying to find everything and sort through it just before the tax appointment. I will feel like I’m on a relaxing vacation in my own office with the wide expanse of a clean desk.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
My kitchen table is covered with papers (all extremely important} and the counter has a similar problem. If I file something away my husband accuses me of Hiding things. If I leave it to him, they never get filed. I think that having the Neat Desk would help me reclaim my kitchen table and counter and improve my nutritional stats.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:18 pm
I’ve always been an adapter of products that improve and simplify my daily life. Although I use Quicken for checking and other financial management, the receipts my wife keeps….and she keeps ALL of them tend to get overwhelming. This product is a surefire solution to the mounds of receipts that have accumulated over the years.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:32 pm
I think it should either be mounted over a trash can or better yet, a shredder so that once the scan is complete it rolls straight out to either and stored electronically forever. I have had this on my wish list for a while and am ready to purge the piles and get to work using the NeatDesk.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:54 pm
My computer would certainly work more easily if my keyboard and mouse did not have to be maneuvered among the stacks of papers and notes. My computer sits in a sewing room that was full before ever adding the computer desk and computer. A Neat Desk would certainly help me maintain my desk more neatly.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:55 pm
Never a lost gas or toll both receipt, petty cash payment or other deductible expense. Will save the cost of NEAT Desk by recording all the bits of paper which many times are lost and then only Uncle Sam wins and I lose.
March 30th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
It would clean up the office so much and make finding information contained in client and tenant files much faster and easier.
March 30th, 2010 at 6:22 pm
I have so many expense receipts that the NEAT scanner could easily scanned into elccronic files where they could easily retrieved, easily sorted and easily archived at the end of required retention periods. NEAT scanner could change my life in the office.
March 30th, 2010 at 6:32 pm
Having all my tax documents on my Mac would drop my tax prep time by probably 50-75%! What’s more, I could get rid of almost all of my docs except my actual tax returns… I could put all my info on a DVD and keep a copy of my important Water Bill docs offsite… I would have more time to shower in the mornings, more time for watering plants… more time for the kids! It’d be a cinch! I want one!
March 30th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
We all are overwhelmed with paperwork, business cards, and electronic receipts. The real question is why we don’t have one of these already! First we would use this as a seed product for our clients, we are a Mac support Company and get into a lot of Mac Shops looking for solutions just like this, the more we get first hand knowledge of these type of products the easier it is for us to recommend.
We belong to a number of networking groups and need a way to organized all these contacts for easy access and sorting.
We order a lot of miscellaneous products on-line and end up with a number of e-receipts in a folder that gets hard to keep track of, this would be a great solution for that.
All expense receipts from the techs and all the utility bills etc.
Our file cabinets over flow with things we “need” to keep but would rather dump.
March 30th, 2010 at 6:49 pm
After recently converting our home to a B&B I had no idea how many receipts we would need to keep up with and record for the business. Envelopes and notebooks are way too un-Neat. Help us organize before we have the fire department shutting us down for creating a “paper hazard”. (and all our guests would get to see how cool it is on the reception desk in the hall, hmmm some return marketing!)
March 30th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
I’m a court runner for a law firm. So all of those parking garage reciepts and mileage logs would have a new home! (instead of the shoebox on my car!) I’m also a photgrapher. Invoices, contracts, model releases, camera and lense warrenties; all that paperwork could finally be easy to acsess!!
March 30th, 2010 at 7:10 pm
I would use it to make copies of receipts for insurance purposes.
March 30th, 2010 at 7:17 pm
Having spent a year accumulating receipts, then hours sorting and tabulating them, then further time with my accountant - who graciously thinks my attempts to pre=organize are cute at best - I need help. Now that I have formed a consultancy, and enter into greater administrative responsibilities and obligations I need help beyond my printer/scanner/fax and my various file folders. Please help a simple girl beset!
March 30th, 2010 at 7:23 pm
Being the captain of an award-winning debate team, there is a lot of paper that runs across my desk. Similarly, as an all time student, I have a lot to manage. The ability to better manage my living paper trail would surpass any gift one could ever offer me. There’s already a spot on my desk waiting…… I can hardly wait for this relief from my OCD.
March 30th, 2010 at 7:31 pm
I need NeatDesk to keep me neat! It’s neat to be neat!
March 30th, 2010 at 7:40 pm
I would finally have a reason for stuffing receipts in my pockets. They would now get scanned before going in to the shredder, and I’d have an easier time calculating my total tax burden.
March 30th, 2010 at 8:18 pm
Let me first say that your company is aptly named. This is just Neat! I really really really want to take advantage of your products and if I already had my tax-return I would buy one right now. Unfortunately, for all of us that started small business during this economy, the business checking account is insufficient for that sort of splurge. I can only hope that I am one of the 10 people that win this contest so I can become a proud owner of my very own Neat scanner.
March 30th, 2010 at 8:28 pm
I need to maintain personal copies of paperwork from my work place. This would be a more convenient and efficient way to keep these copies. Thanks.
March 30th, 2010 at 8:30 pm
The NeatDesk for Mac would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I really need a NeatDesk as soon as possible, before the piles of papers bury me AND my computer!! I need some help. THANKS!!
March 30th, 2010 at 8:33 pm
It would help me keep all my tax information and papers in one easy to find place and format in my Mac. I would also be able to get rid of the pile of paper I never get around to get back to.
March 30th, 2010 at 8:41 pm
The paper dragon would that devours all inhabitants that enter our home office would be trained! Help us train our dragon!
March 30th, 2010 at 8:46 pm
I could scan in my kids’ homework, since they seem to misplace it before it gets back to school. Once scanner, it would be so easy for them to reprint it or email a PFD file to a teacher.
March 30th, 2010 at 8:59 pm
I’m a Technology Director for a school, and my desk is covered with bills, POs, and shipping statements. I so badly need to get organized, and I think the Tag feature that Neat Desk offers will change my life.
March 30th, 2010 at 9:11 pm
I really want to get a handle on my medical receipt situation for tax time 2010. I always have multiple “ways” of tracking the receipts for Rx, doctor visits and the like and come the end of the season, I can’t find everything. My state allows full medical expense deduction so it would save me a bundle if I could manage to be confident that I’ve captured all my out of pocket costs. Neat Receipts seems to be able to fit the bill nicely. Aside from receipt tracking I could finally cut out interesting articles from magazines, scan them and then toss the magazine in the recycle bin. Less clutter, I like it!!
March 30th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
As a teacher, coach, parent, consumer, etc… I have enough on my desk at any one time to bury myself & several others. Help me clean up, please!
March 30th, 2010 at 9:42 pm
I belong to two non-profit reenactment groups and have expenses related to robbing trains, e.g. gunpowder and the like. Receipts come in all sizes, and I think April would be a much sunnier month if it wasn’t raining paper!
March 30th, 2010 at 9:49 pm
I have very organized piles. But piles and piles of well stacked papers. In fact, I added a second desk to hold all the piles of papers. Tax documents are in one pile or another and on one desk or the other. It is the receipts for the volunteer summer coaching which is most frustrating because they are small pieces of paper which get stapled, paper clipped, and I am sure some are just plain lost. Being able to scan all that paper into digital documents is one thing, but to be able to organize it in folders by topic (coaching, taxes, home improvement, recipes, etc.) would be like frosting on the cake. Yummy.
March 30th, 2010 at 9:53 pm
To be able to scan then toss all pertinent bills, receipts and invoices knowing that with a click of your mouse you could locate and organise all of this information. That would be blissful compared to the paper chase I experience now. No matter how dedicated I am at the beginning of the year, paper madness happens and I just end up shoving everything in a drawer. Not the best way to prepare for tax time. HOW quick and easy organizing my deductions at tax time would be. Not to mention having my drawer and desk top restored back to me.
March 30th, 2010 at 10:21 pm
As the Technology Manager of a daily newspaper and commercial printer, I swim in paperwork — research, procedures, proposals, documentation and more — and it’s MAKING ME CRAZY. I want to scan it, store it, and be able to search it, but have it take up ZERO footprint. Please help me!!!
March 30th, 2010 at 10:21 pm
A NeatDesk would allow me to see my desktop again! I am the sport contact for the Amateur Athletics Union for two thirds of California (a non-profit corporation), own a Day Spa, and am a salesman working in Agriculture that covers all of California. Obviously I have numerous expenses and receipts that I try to keep sorted in numerous files, but they inevitably end up on my desk and mixed together in a pile. I do my own taxes and most likely miss numerous deductions due to lost, forgotten, misplaced receipts. Would a NeatDesk help me to keep these sorted and in the correct categories? YOU BETCHA!
March 30th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
Prithee, join my battle against the mighty and heinous paper monster forsooth. Come, be my armor, my sword, my shield. Together we shall prevail!
March 30th, 2010 at 10:30 pm
What would I do with the Neat Desk? I WOULD GIVE IT TO MY DAD! The man has the messiest home office I have ever seen. I have tried to get him to buy Neat Receipt and he refuses. So, if I were to win Neat Desk, he would have no choice but to use it! Not only would it make tax time easier, but it would make life easier… FOR ALL OF US!
March 30th, 2010 at 10:54 pm
I could certainly use this, my father is a semi-truck driver and he keeps all his receipts and claims all of that stuff on his taxes. i help him keep those organized and this could help me organize them even better.
March 30th, 2010 at 10:56 pm
What can I say, this is what I need in my life… to save my financial life!
March 30th, 2010 at 11:11 pm
I am 80 years young and although I do not run own a business, I feel like I’m running one because of all the things I need to keep track of. I cannot stand having useless stuff that takes up cabinets full. We have a good size home and we are always having improvements done and paying for maintenance. I categorize all these things so I have many, many documents listing costs, which I end up adding up by hand. I take pictures and also have inventories of furniture and items room by room, who did the work, etc. I list all outside improvements that stay with the house if we sell and also for the inside. I also have our Trust and Will documented with an addendum listing who inherits various jewelry or collectibles. I have documents for my “memoirs” , health history, recipes, where to find. I scanned 10,000 photos going back to when I was a baby and was able to get rid of numerous albums. Now they are so categorized that I can find them quickly. In other words, I love to feel organized and I feel that “Neat Desk” would help me to do this in a more efficient way and I could get rid of all the PAPER.
March 31st, 2010 at 12:34 am
Keeping it simple.
March 31st, 2010 at 3:14 am
NeatDesk will help me organize and systematize the mounds of receipts and paperwork I’d rather not have cluttering my life.
March 31st, 2010 at 5:34 am
My boyfriend is a fulltime musician. Every day he tunes a piano, picks up parts for another piano, plays steel drums or accordian for an afternoon gig or is a pirate at Disneyland, then sets up in a bar or someone’s back yard for a full-band party. Each job has paperwork to be kept track of, mileage and locations, payments for equipment and crews, costumes, food, and many etceteras. There have been years he was doing his taxes in January for the previous year. He really needs help and he makes as much per gig as he did 20 years ago. So he really deserves a break. C’mon, support the arts! Thanks!
March 31st, 2010 at 6:21 am
OMG! I would put it to so much use. I would use it at work as well as at home. I am a timekeeper that receives a ton of receipts and invoices that has to process each piece and with the help of Neatdesk it would do most of the work for me! And at home I would be free of the mounds of paperwork and tax time would be a click away! And more accurate than ever. It would be a great asset to my Imac and Macbook Pro!
March 31st, 2010 at 6:30 am
I like my NeatDesk so much at work, I would love to have one at home, too!
March 31st, 2010 at 7:08 am
I am a single mother of four children. I have also been diagnosed with adult ADHD and a learning disability in math. I do a lot of volunteer work helping children with learning differences manage their emotional lives. I also do work in Bullying Prevention since so many kids LD and otherwise are harassed and teased everyday at school.
Tax time, as you might imagine is pure hell for me! Between my inability to focus for any length of time , my scattered papers and receipts every where, plus my difficulty in performing what seems like even the most basic math - tax season is something I dread.
The Neat Desk would help me in so many ways - Even just the name; Neat Desk sounds like a dream come true since it’s something ( a neat desk) I rarely see!
Knowing that my receipts are in one place, categorized, and there when I need them, as opposed to, for example, finding them in my sock drawer - where I left them when I was putting away the laundry - would be such a blessing.
Wow, even thinking of the possibility has made my day that much brighter!
March 31st, 2010 at 7:20 am
Sitting here in my office and looking around I see clutter, dust covered clutter! Documents I intended to file what seems like eons ago. As business is quite brisk, I find that I have less and less time to file those dust laden documents. After reading about NeatDesk, I can see how what will now take me days and weeks to file can be done in alot less time and cost less money in labor costs. Anticipating how it will make the dreaded April 15 deadline less intimidating, a $400 investment seems like an investment that will payoff!!!
March 31st, 2010 at 8:21 am
In addition to obvious uses, I am the “family scanner” - my sister sends faxes to me to scan (which I then email back to her), and I am using an old, bulky, and not-always-reliable multifunction device for scanning. I already started looking into a dedicated scanner, so this would fit the bill on so many levels.
March 31st, 2010 at 8:44 am
Business meals? Where’s my Gas-x! Parking? Where is my car?!Unreimbursed travel? I didn’t come here and I ain’t leaving. Dry Cleaning? Wait, these are NOT my pants. Help! My cats have made a litter box in my receipt shoebox!
March 31st, 2010 at 9:02 am
Well.
Though I don’t have a concrete plan yet, I would definately use it to get rid of those ginormeous piles of paper! I’m sure I have at least one rain forest at home.
Regarding using it, I like having everything wired up to my network, for easy access on more than one machine.
So if it’s possible, I would probably hook it up to my Synology DiskStation’s USB port, and utilize it’s network capabilities, to access the scanner from both my MacBook Pro, and my Mac Pro.
I would probably also let the software’s archive be located on the DiskStation, which is mounted as an iSCSI drive, for easy access from both machines.
Guess that’s what I would do;)

As a business consultant I am constantly on the run. Lots and lots of meetings with new folks. As such I end up at the end of the day with a pocket full of business cards and receipts. My solution has been to throw them into a large envelope and postpone dealing with them until tax time. As you can imagine this makes for a lot of fun come tax time. Having a simple convenient way such as the Neat Desk solution would not only clean up my desk but also help organize the details for tracking my business and doing my taxes. I look forward to being selected.
March 31st, 2010 at 11:30 am
Taxes … that’s only one of the horizontal “files” on my desk right now. (A horizontal file is otherwise known as a pile). How about expenses, travel docs, project 1, project 2, etc. All in all there are 5 piles on my desk and three on the floor, one true vertical file on my desk and 5 file drawers (oh and a bankers file box with another “to be filed” pile on top of it.
Does neat come with a 100,000 sheet warranty? That should about do it!
I think my desk is flat and made of wood veneer - Neat Desk would help me to find out!
Help!
March 31st, 2010 at 1:21 pm
I would stay caught up on organizing all my receipts for the whole year. When tax time comes around, filing would be a breeze. Especially for keeping up with school expenses. I have a huge bag full of receipts i would love to burn.
March 31st, 2010 at 1:24 pm
Much like the ‘Blob’ of TV’s early monsters, the paper monster starts small and grows and absorbs whatever it touches. I have stacks of paper in the car, on the dresser and all over the home office. Neatdesk would create just what the name says, a neat desk and goes one step further by making me prepared and organized!
March 31st, 2010 at 2:59 pm
For the last two tax years, I have miss-filed receipts that would have reduced my tax obligation. Neat Works “Intelligent Text Recognition” filing would have eliminated that possibility and I could have bought ten scanners with my savings!
March 31st, 2010 at 3:19 pm
My Paper Monster consists of two drawers full of receipts that I could get rid of but still keep the information with NeatDesk. What a dream!
March 31st, 2010 at 3:58 pm
As a one person office I’m constantly struggling to keep up with paperwork of all kinds, and receipts are the worst of all. I’m always struggling to sort through at tax time and this year is no better. I’d love to be able to quickly and easily scan receipts as I get them and not have to deal with them all in one big pile later on!
March 31st, 2010 at 5:07 pm
It would be great to eliminate all the handwritten class notes from school and have them all 100% digitalized. Then, everything would be in one place, and I’d be able to bring up notes from days, months, even years past!
March 31st, 2010 at 5:53 pm
I’ve got a sheetfed scanner for my PC and it works great to keep my personal finances and taxes as paperless as possible. But my wife uses the PC for work and I barely get a couple of minutes on it to keep up to day. With a Neat Desk for the MAC, I’d be back in control of scanning all of my stuff without distrubing my wife. I know how it can help at tax time because I already scanned all of last years stuff to the new accountant and emailed it to him.
March 31st, 2010 at 7:47 pm
I have papers in a million of different places - due to not being able to tame the ugly clutter monster, having 2 small children that takes up most of my “free” time and having a really hard time coming up with a method of organizing and storing all these important documents that seem to bombard my life at a faster rate than I can deal with! Tax-time is stressful enough without having to search high and low for all the papers that you need to complete and file taxes each year. With NeatDesk, I would definitely be able to be more organized in a quicker fashion and have much less of a headache each day when I receive more papers that I know I will one day need to refer back to.
Everything nowadays is so digitally centered - including filing taxes. Everything from receiving important tax documents from our employers to being able to access bank account interest amounts - something’s gotta give for the rest of us that are still trying to remember where all the other paperwork was stashed during the previous 11 1/2 months leading up to yet again, another tax season.
Needless to say, I - a mother, wife, student, small business owner, Mac user, etc… would benefit from NeatDesk!!!!
March 31st, 2010 at 8:22 pm
I’m an IT manager and commute between my “home” office in Dallas, TX and my business office in Mt. View, CA. I accumulate a lot of paper in notes, handouts, scribbles, hand drawn mind maps, and markups to other peoples documents, every day. On top of this is the daily rigor of keeping up with travel receipts for everything in commuting, as we receipt down to zero dollars, so if you buy it, you receipt it, or eat it. In my photography business, I’m organized digital everything, yet in my IT work world simply being able to digitally manage all of the documents I see or create every day would relieve a major Dallas to Mt. View headache. More importantly, it would eliminate any manual filing, file folders, and clutter on my desk, and really annoy my co-workers who are generally buried under paper.
March 31st, 2010 at 9:21 pm
I’d love to start scanning all my bills, so that I could then recycle them. I’ve got piles of old bills lying around.
March 31st, 2010 at 9:23 pm
As a college freshman, the NeatDesk scanner could help me digitize all of my assignments and keep them organized. With such a busy schedule, organization will most likely not be my top priority next fall, but the NeatDesk would be a great tool to keep on my desk.
March 31st, 2010 at 9:58 pm
I’m terrible at filing receipts and important documents correctly and in a timely fashion. NeatDesk would definitely encourage me to get those receipts out of my wallet and scanned for later reference.
March 31st, 2010 at 10:39 pm
My husband could no longer use the ‘male refrigerator blindness’ trick when it comes time to gather all of the receipts and paperwork necessary to file our taxes!!!!
March 31st, 2010 at 10:53 pm
wow wouldn’t it be great to be that organized and clutter free at tax time could probably wait until the 14th to prepare instead of starting Jan 1 come on help a guy out I would be so grateful and your friend for life ,I would even have time to work for you to help promote this item further.

As a young small-business owner that works primarily with independent contractor agreements and personal accounts it is often a daunting task organizing all of my tax materials not to mention everything else in between. Thankfully business is good but due to my line of work (soccer coach/director) most of my time is spent out on the field and traveling from location to location year round. A quick, effective, and earth-friendly solution like the NeatDesk to my mounds of paperwork would be most helpful as we continue to expand our horizons into the summer of 2010 and beyond!
April 1st, 2010 at 12:45 am
Well, I am over 70, my husband is over 80. We are retired. I know that this Neat Desk would help us keep up to date with our paperwork. Aging is a process, and memory is not always there 100% of the time. This would allow us to ensure the important things we need to keep track of are there. Rather than rely on the paper”hard copies”, we would have it on our computer. Doing things to help the environment stay free from clutter of paper is a good thing.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:51 am
Neat Desk is what I have been looking for! . I would no longer have to buy another filing cabinet, more paper folders and a plethora of items to retain important paper. Changing from the mindset of “needing a hard copy” to having it there, but not there…
Environmentally friendly, eliminating paper, conserving those energies. A dream come true!
April 1st, 2010 at 12:54 am
THis is an incredible device that would free up alot of space. In our home and also in our minds.KNowing that receipts, paperwork, etc is processed. Great product.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:58 am
Neat Desk is what I have been looking for! A way to keep track of all my receipts, paperwork, and excess items. This would eliminate the need for extra filing cabinets, and also is environmentally friendly as I would not have to buy anymore file folders.
April 1st, 2010 at 7:51 am
My current system includes folders full of receipts and documents from last year. NeatDesk would help me reclaim lots of file space!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:10 am
In my dreams. Really. I can’t see it happening. If you could see my desk, you’d believe.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:10 am
I’ve started using NeatWorks, but don’t have a good scanner. This would motivate me to get all of my receipts into the computer (and maybe my wife too). No more receipt boxes. Yeah!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:10 am
I am tired of making a purchase and finding later the the receipt has faded and become unreadable. Is this happening to anyone else? I really need this scanner, I am missing out on deductions because of faded receipts.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:12 am
Tax day for me is easy because I file receipts daily, or when I return from trips. But if I had it I would scan daily, or maybe even on the road, and ELIMINATE PAPER. it would be wonderful to have for everything in business, not just tax day! Thanks neatco.com for the fun contest.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:14 am
I would be able to scan all my important receips and documents and clean my workspace. Maybe that would allow me to get some work done without the distraction of searching for a specific document in a mountain of paper!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:18 am
I have no room anymore to store all of the paper! I collect tax paperwork all year long and throw it into a file folder. But now my file drawers are full. NeatDesk would certainly help me to quickly scan the required documents and store them neatly on my hard drive. No more boxes of paperwork in the garage and overflowing file drawers!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:20 am
Oh Wow! So many things this could be used for, not just the taxes. First, I would use the NeatDesk to organize my wife’s recipes. Then to organize her writings, like poems, short stories, etc… Then I would use the NeatDesk to organize our home paper work on payments and such. Now comes the fun part. I would use the NeatDesk to organize my music as I am in a band and our music needs a format such as this to keep our business together. I would organize all the kids works for future reference. Just so much I don’t know if there is enough room to mention all the uses we could come up with. Yep, wow!

I own my own freelance design company and i manually scan and store my receipts, invoices, etc. It’s a time consuming and laborious task without a proper software suite to do so. I also have a 5 year plan. Part of that plan is to build my investment business and portfolio so that i can shut down or sell the design business and invest full-time. Another part of that plan is to help my mom retire in 5 years, at 60, before her day job puts even more stress on her body. I’ve included in my 5 year plan the start of a charitable foundation. My mom is passionate and active in raising awareness to put an end to human trafficking. NeatDesk would assist me, by saving valuable time, in building the investment business and the charitable foundation so that my mom can spend more time doing what she loves, instead of breaking her back for a measly salary. It would also free up more time so that I can spend more time putting the foundation in action to help even more people.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:21 am
I have been wanting this software for years now!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:23 am
Finally, an answer to a problem.
thank you!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:30 am
I have a home office and always running out to make copies for work. Neat Desk would clear the clutter, stop me from having to run out to make copies, would allow me to be more productive, organized and efficient. The productivity, organization increase would offset the cost.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:34 am
Oh how dreamy it would be to have Neat Desk make my desk…neat. Such a jumbled mess! Uncluttered desk leading to uncluttered mind.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:35 am
NeatDesk could change my life! To have all of my receipts in one place and all organized. I can hardly imagine how awesome that would be. I am always trying to organize my office and do not even get close. NeatDesk seems like the answer. Maybe I would not have to file extensions every year as I wade through paperwork. I would love to try NeatDesk.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:37 am
A few years ago, I traded in my 6 lb DayTimer for a 6 oz Palm Pilot, and now an iPhone. Great to have that weight off my shoulder. Now, the weight of 100 or so receipts isn’t that heavy, just annoying and frustrating. If Neat Receipts could take care of THAT weight, what a wonderful world it would be!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:41 am
I will setup the Neatdesk and enlist the help of my 5 year old daughter to feed it alll the paperwork I have squirlled away in my office. my only fear is the inevitable carpal tunnal she will contract from the tedious feeedong process. Are there child labor laws against this sort if thing. Anyways I will get my files organized.. Thanks Neatdesk!!!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:41 am
I need Neat Receipts. My desk is covered with documents I need to file.
Help Neat Receipts!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:42 am
Paper is so annoying. I hate it when people can’t send me a pdf of something. I would empty out my filing cabinet which is now useless because a) I can’t fit anything else in there; b) I’ve gone through several organizational schemes which have collided; and c) everything is so jammed in there I can’t get anything out easily.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:43 am
I have been banished from my home office by my wife who no longer wants to see the stacks of paper! If I can’t organize it, she doesn’t want it! Add to it, by tax time, I just can’t remember which pile in my convoluted pile management structure the required receipts are! Not only would my wife like the organization, but I could quit commuting from the dog house!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:45 am
I am a packrat by nature. I have reading lessons I kept from first grade. Notes passed in class from junior high. Valentine cards from childhood friends I don’t even remember. And I’m 46 years old. I think I have every cancelled check and check register since I opened my first bank account in 1980. I could wallpaper my entire house in just receipts I’ve kept. They are filed and scattered everywhere. Stored in boxes, in accordian files, strewn on my dresser, littering the kichen table, afixed to my refrigerator with a magnet, stuffed in my wallet making it as bulky as a supersized hamburger. With cheese, fully dressed. I have been lusting after the Neat Receipts product since I saw it advertised, but unfortunately I do not have a receipt for having purchased it…yet. Now that I’m on the downhill slope toward 90 years old, it’s time to declutterfy (is that a word?) my life becuase when I die, I will be buried in scraps of paper. Help me Neat Receipts!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:45 am
My daughter is going through some medical problems, and the bills we receive are overwhelming. I would love a system of scanning, sorting, marking as paid, etc., and then being confident I can throw out the bill and not be overlooking anything!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:46 am
Organization is key, and this product promises to help one get organized.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:47 am
Help me I’m being crushed to death by the paper monsterrrr….
April 1st, 2010 at 9:47 am
I’m looking forward to reduce all the paper clutter. Going electronic saves time and lots of trees!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:48 am
As an architect that acknowledges the increasing demand on the environment, PAPER is filling our landfills and aiding in degrading our environment. And while we can adopt recycle programs and promote new strategies for reducing our carbon footprint, it’s technology like NeatDesk that will make our tasks easier.
In my profession, we communicate with paper. A lot of it. The NeatDesk would help eliminate some of this paper, while allowing me to accurately file important documents that are vital to my client’s projects.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:48 am
I need this it would make my life at tax time so much easier
April 1st, 2010 at 9:51 am
I’ve been meaning to clean my file cabinets of old receipts, statements, and other documents for years. This looks great.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:54 am
Fast, easy, and a n”no-brainer”
April 1st, 2010 at 10:10 am

April 1st, 2010 at 10:13 am
Chaos is an understatement around here our house looks like a cross between a warehouse and a paper explosion. Filing what’s that??? We need help! I really loath paperwork but it’s a necessity. This looks like I would be able to never lose a receipt or important document again. And now my lovely wife has started Mary Kay! That make two filing setups!
April 1st, 2010 at 10:14 am
I am a writer. I write books, articles, plays. I have been earning a living this way most of my adult life.
As a writer, I use a home office. It saves me money at tax time, but keeping records of all my expenses — postage, travel, meals, stationery, paper, toner, heating, lighting, phone bills, research costs, is an time costly effort. Neat would save me a lot of time and bother and concern.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:15 am
Would come in handy for our farming business. Currently have lots of clutter, shoe boxes for receipts and a dollar store notebook used for record keeping. Need to get into the twentieth century! NeatDesk would be a godsend to us.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:16 am
I have 1000’s of receipts I need to get into my computer …new business, charity, business expenses, family expenses, housing expenses, etc … I am typing this from under a pile of receipts and its …. getting … hard … to breath. HELP!!!
April 1st, 2010 at 10:18 am
I find the paper monster on my desk every week. His goal is to ruin my ability to be organized and productive. I want to use NeatDesk to eliminate the pile of paper in and on my desk that he needs to survive.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:21 am
With full-time jobs plus a small business, we have literally bags full of receipts and documents piled up in our home office. Every year at tax time, my wife spends days and nights collating the information for our accountant. Neat Receipts would be a godsend! We’d love to have one!
April 1st, 2010 at 10:23 am
Will make life easier as we could instantly find proofs of purchases rather then digging thru drawers of receipts to put your fingers on the receipt. Our tax person that would be a super way for archiving receipts without taking up rooms for storage for all that paper.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:24 am
As a teacher, I’m used to papers all around me at school, but I hate it at home. My husband is very meticulous and we save every receipt. I’ve been watching the Neat Desk for a year or so online just hoping for the day when I could scan everything and clean up the clutter at my house! This would help us keep all of our expenses straight, especially for those things I spend on school!! I even told my principal about it, she of course jumped up and bought one! I would welcome this streamlined device of clutter-free, helpfulness into my home with open arms!
April 1st, 2010 at 10:30 am
I already use the neatworks and their portable scanner to scan in every piece of paper I need to keep. Main reason is that in addition to letting me organize the papers, I also have a backup copy of all of my papers and that can be backed up and take offsite so that in the event of a fire or other catastrophic incident, I still have copies of all of my papers.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:34 am
if I had the Neat Desk, I would actually be able to see my desk. I am scared to death of opening my tax file drawer, afraid of it jumping out at me, and never seeing my desk again.. It would help tremendously if I had a scanner and could back it up on time machine.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:45 am
Just think, all the hours, days, week, and years that my husband has been so diligently entering into Quicken and then filing could possibly bea thing of the past. Sure, he’ll still enter into Quicken and categorize, but wWOW not to file! Now that is a game changers! Perhaps, time for a movie or a hike or just a quiet moment in the backyard. AH! I’m relaxing already.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:46 am
I hate paper AND paperwork. Anything to help me get organized would be an improvement. Imagine NOT struggling at the end of the year to pull all the bits and slips of different papers together. That would be awesome!!
April 1st, 2010 at 10:50 am
What a neat idea! I WOULD use it for tax documents and other important papers that I should save in a orderly manner… but don’t. Right now, I DO pile my docs in a drawer….
April 1st, 2010 at 10:54 am
I would pack this baby up and bring with us as we work on development projects around the world. I would use it to scan all my personal work-related documents and send to my accountant regularly. He would be so happy.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:54 am
Since the IRS added the ability to claim sales tax as deductions, I’m forced to save years worth of sales receipts if I itemize deductions. With Neat Receipts I can eliminate a storage problem allowing me to shred them as soon as they are scanned. This will reduce the possibility that my receipts will fall into the hands of someone looking to steal my identity.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:55 am
I’ve gone to almost completely digital for my bills. NeatDesk would complete the picture by allowing the storage of snail mail documents. I also envision being able to use it to scan magazine article for future reference and the ability to throw away the magazines!
April 1st, 2010 at 10:58 am
It would be great to never have to go in the attic and search for a scrap of paper in a box that you can’t quite remember where it is or which one. I’d love to be organized. It would save space and save my sanity–especially during tax season.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:58 am
NeatDesk will simplify and organize both my personal and professional worlds by allowing me to eliminate all of the paper receipts that currently reside in a wide array of locations. Tax time, expense-report time, and store-return time will become a breeze. And NeatDesk will help improve the quality of life for all around me. My family would be thrilled to no longer see me running around looking for that missing receipt!
April 1st, 2010 at 11:07 am
I think I have CLUTTERitis! I have some receipts that are so old that the ink on them have faded away! This wouldn’t just make tax time easier, it would help me get rid of SO much paper that just seems to pile and pile everywhere, whether in my home or in my classroom. The NeatDesk would give me a NeatHome, a NeatClassroom, and a very HappyWife!!!
April 1st, 2010 at 11:14 am
Throughout the year I travel and if there was an easier way, I don’t think there is, I would just be able to scan all those documents away so that I would be able to find it.
April 1st, 2010 at 11:51 am
The pile of paper on my desk often hides everything else. It seeks to take only minutes to create the mess, and hours to sort through it, get things filed correctly, and return to business. At times I think the paper is winning. This would be a great way to finally put paper in its place - The Recycle Bin!
April 1st, 2010 at 11:55 am
I have been trying to go “paperless” to help with things such as taxes, but find it to be hard to do, and this seems like the perfect solution! In addition, as a journalist, I have many old articles and clips that i keep stored in a big file cabinet that desperately needs help. Save me from myself!
April 1st, 2010 at 12:07 pm
I do the annual taxes for 3 people so I have a lot of receipts to track. A Neat Desk would certainly help me in these tasks. Currently, the receipts are stuffed in various envelopes and sometimes elsewhere, which make it very difficult to do the taxes.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:16 pm
I would kill the paper monster, by putting all of my papers, in a digital format.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:16 pm
Sometimes, I feel like I’m drowning in a sea of paper. I get very anxious when the cluttered pile of documents grows higher and higher. Neat Receipts would certain help eliminate this mess and restore some sanity into my record keeping.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:19 pm
I’m in the preliminary stages of making a documentary about local organic farmers. Part of these preliminaries is setting up my production company. Keeping track of all the expenses will get crazy when I start bringing in more people to work on the project. I don’t want to worry about looking for a missing slip of paper with a crucial bit of information on it when it’s time to file the tax return. So far, the amount of paper (receipts and research) generated by this project is incredible! If I can digitize video to edit that, why not digitize paper so it can also be sorted and edited??
April 1st, 2010 at 12:35 pm
At this moment, I am in the “Clean Springing” momentum! Could Neat Desk be of help to me? Oh yes! I am a mother of six, a military wife and we are on our 13th move in 15 years and the paper trail is constantly following us and making it sometimes harder to decide what to keep or shred or file or copy or just look at or put it in the pile because there just isn’t an answer to it yet! And that ultimately would lead me to writing a comment in hopes that Neat Desk could be that Answer! Would love to be that winner. Have a lovely day.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:38 pm
Paper - what paper. Store by income and deductions, catalog, search and retrieve - view it online; enter the information in the Tax Return and hit Submit.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:38 pm
The paper at home simply doesn’t stop and I would love to simply have everything on my computer. Also, my husband is always saying save this or that and sure enough when I have to look for it, I can’t find it. Having a folder with all of his papers and being able to organize every receipt and document would be awesome!!!!
April 1st, 2010 at 12:47 pm
My life would potentially be paperless. No more file upon endless paper files. That would equate to a cleaner and more organized desk and office. No more piles of paper/receipts to sort through too. No more stress, just pure bliss at the touch of my fingertips.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:55 pm
If I could, I surely would
shred all the paper…
Lord, that’d be good…
So much stuff round’me lay
can’t get to my guitar to play..
On the road, singin’ on my feet
help a sister out with Neat Receipts!
April 1st, 2010 at 1:11 pm
My wife and I have a small business, she as a photographer and me as an independent contractor/consultant in education and psychology. We both also have “real jobs” and the amount of time we spend getting organized at the end of the tax year, and the money we spend with a tax firm could give us enough money to actually take a vacation. So, I’d like to have a vacation next year, away from the Paper Dragon.
April 1st, 2010 at 1:52 pm
Hmm, I don’t think I need to tell you how I’d use NeatDesk to get organized. It sounds like NeatDesk is going to do all the organizing for me - if I win, that is
Seriously, to be able to see my sewing room again, instead of stacks and stacks of papers would be just wonderful. And then to be able to find them all later? Too good to be true…Unless you’re using NeatDesk, of course!
April 1st, 2010 at 2:19 pm
I just think it’s a cool product and cool products are always helpful at tax time.
April 1st, 2010 at 2:41 pm
Neat Receipts sounds like exactly what I need - a method to organize my receipts and not have to spend countless hours organizing a year’s worth of receipts.
April 1st, 2010 at 2:42 pm
Too much paper, not enough time to keep it organized. Help!
April 1st, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Here I sit, taking a break from another attempt to sort and clean my desktop (the real wood one), and how can I avoid my email invitation to write about my predicament!
I am in a lengthy recovery after falling 18 feet and landing on concrete stair steps, resulting in paraplegia from a Spinal Cord Injury. I’m not asking for “sympathy”, as I have very well accepted these (life changing)events.
I have continued to keep my small business alive, even from a lengthy stay at the hospital, and am busy now attempting a new business start-up. At issue is, however, that maneuvering around my office is very “taxing” in and of itself, and I am constantly faced with piles of paperwork that needs to be dealt with. I simply do not have the “legs” for it.
Receiving the Neat Desk would obviously greatly assist me to keep order, and to file and retrieve from my laptop rather than from boxes, stacks, or my file drawers. I really do want and need this wonderful little creation!!!
With Sincerity,
Alan
April 1st, 2010 at 3:10 pm
the way I would use it for taxes is simply to record and file all receipts and tax related correspondence in appropriate categories.
April 1st, 2010 at 3:12 pm
If I had access to a Neat Desk, I would not only be able to keep track of my receipts before the cat has a chance to destroy it when using it as a toy, but I would also be able to scan documents for others onto disks for profit so I can make some additional money in my spare time to help pay off debt and start contributing to my favorite charities again.
April 1st, 2010 at 3:22 pm
Hug a Neat Desk, save a tree! I would love to go paperless. My favorite place to shop is the Apple Store…make a purchase, have the receipt emailed to you. Efficient, green. But, until every business catches on, a Neat Desk would be my dream come true! I hope I am one of the lucky winners. (or a Neat Desk will be on my Christmas List)
April 1st, 2010 at 3:29 pm
As a single mother, I could clean out my closet and toss the shoe boxes stuffed with receipts. Would love this timesaver to add value to my life.
April 1st, 2010 at 3:46 pm
I have already started to get our traveling sales reps at work using the NeatReceipt scanners and NeatWorks software with their expense reporting. Now it’s time to do the same for me at home. With little ones running around paper easily becomes something to chew on, draw on or worse. Time to get ship-shape and get rid of the filing cabinets With a combination of this and SugarSync’s secure online backup I would have access to my documents digitally anywhere I need.
April 1st, 2010 at 3:55 pm
I just made a big move, and had to have several boxes of paper shipped to me. I would much rather have all of that information on a little flash drive that I could just put in my pocket. If this machine will allow me to do that, then sign me up!
April 1st, 2010 at 4:02 pm
Of the many challenges I have overcome during my lifetime, a messy desk seems to be the windmill I have yet to slay! I am on medical disability (mountains of doctor bills, prescriptions, recipes to try, and new treatments/drugs to study up and do research on) and have found the paperwork in my life to be simply overwhelming most of the time. Even though I don’t work a 9-5 job, just taking care of my day to day existence takes up most of the time available to me. That combined with the fact that my mind doesn’t work at the speed it used to (medications have seen to that) I can’t keep up with my life on paper! With what I understand the “NeatDesk for Mac” can do, I believe it would be a God send to me. If I were to digitalize the paperwork as it comes in the door, whether that be receipts, prescriptions, new recipes to try (as my medical condition mates up with a hobby of mine, that being nutrition/cooking) I could easily “file” things on the spot and accomplish my work on “Quicken” at nearly the same time. My wife and I would be able to get rid of the extra filing cabinets we are using for all the medical receipts/bills and the boxes of recipes that I have stacked up would not be missed if they went bye-bye too! I guess I have only one more thing to add, please make my life just a little easier …… I would be forever thankful! Grazie!
April 1st, 2010 at 4:15 pm
I’ve got a ton of important papers that I’ve wanted to convert to digital for a long time now, but I’ve always cringed at the thought of the size of the project. I recently had occasion to use a friend’s NeatDesk and I was thoroughly impressed with it’s ease of use and the mac integration is fantastic. Even if I don’t win the contest, I intend on purchasing a NeatDesk!
April 1st, 2010 at 4:20 pm
I am an Actor and Singer who travels between New York and Los Angeles. Many of my receipts are Tax deductible so it’s important that I keep them organized. The fact that Neatdesk scans AND extracts the data is huge! Business cards are another category of clutter that seems to outweigh their practicality. Again, Neatdesk capabilities transcend any solution I’ve seen. Here’s wishing you continued success!
April 1st, 2010 at 5:16 pm
Neat receipts would help with the mountain of medical receipts we have.
April 1st, 2010 at 6:37 pm
First let me say how excited I am that this giveaway is happening!! I’ve had my eye on NeatDesk for Mac for over a year (seeing the ads originally in my mac magazines), but when push came to shove I simply could not afford it with 4 teenagers at home and a disabled husband. I resigned myself that I must wait to purchase this incredible product until I finished grad school and landed a good job. But if my husband and I could win one now? It would be fantastic - I’d probably cry tears of joy!
The NeatDesk would get prime desk space right next to the iMac and above the shredder. For our 23 years of marriage, I’ve done most the paperwork and taxes, but since I’ve been in grad school it’s been hard to keep up. The work actually is months behind as a result so we’ve split duties. I still do the taxes & pay the bills, but now my husband does the input and balancing. My husband has CP which makes all computer input very difficult, but he continues to work on the piles of paperwork even if it takes him twice as long. I would love to make that process easier for him and NeatDesk would do that beautifully (it could improve our marriage too, well at least reduce the arguing over paperwork)! And the smile on his face as he shreds stacks of receipts and papers would be PRICELESS!
April 1st, 2010 at 6:54 pm
OK. I admit it. I’m a pack-rat. There I said it, and I’m proud of it. But let’s face it, with all the information we get these days I’ve run out of room to store it all. A person has just so many shoe boxes. Bill copies, instruction sheets, warranty cards, business cards, the list goes on and on… and let’s face it, tax time is the worst. Bank statement, wage forms, investment forms. The IRS says keep the information for years. But where, how? But with the Neat Receipts system I would be able to keep all of my information in an organized system that available whenever I need it and for as long as I need it. They don’t call it Neat for nothing.
April 1st, 2010 at 7:03 pm
I just visited my CPA for my annual income tax meeting. He had a devise that looked like yours on his desktop and kept scanning and saving the important documents and gave me back my pile of paperwork to save. I couldn’t help thinking about all the large document holders I have lying around my garage full of tax documents for the last seven years minimum. I thought it must be available to accountants at a high price. It would save me a ton of file drawer space and having to sort all my paper before each year’s appointment.
April 1st, 2010 at 7:23 pm
I would tame the piles of receipts, and organize them for tax time. I would also scan all of my school papers and notes into the computer for future use. Making me a better organized and happier person.
April 1st, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Wow, this is a wonderful thing. It will get me so organized. I will scan every single receipt and statement that I have and I won;t need any more paper! The world be a much better place, at least my world will be.
April 1st, 2010 at 8:48 pm
If I had NeatDesk my kitchen counter would not be cluttered with receipts my husband insists on scattering about the countertops like large pieces of confetti. And when it comes time to do the taxes (which I do, not him) I wouldn’t have to try to decipher the date from the receipt which has been rubbed out from handling, sorting and finally, one day, storing in the box on the top shelf of my closet.
April 1st, 2010 at 9:38 pm
I’d love a Neat Desk so that I can finally have a neat desk. I’m covered up in paper and truly need to de-clutter my desk. I’d use the Neat Desk to organize and store my records and get rid of my current piling (sic) system.
April 1st, 2010 at 10:13 pm
I agree that the Neat Desk would be great for tax purposes but it will also help in controlling the budget because I can capture all of our receipts and review them from one spot, not the hundreds of places I presently find to lay them up “until I get time to file them”. I’m really looking forward to the freedom from the paper monster!
April 1st, 2010 at 10:53 pm
I would scan everything - not just receipts. Financial prospectus, manuals, interesting magazine articles, just about everything. I HATE paper.
April 1st, 2010 at 11:03 pm
NEATDESK would be a AMAZING since none of this year’s receipts have been entered or filed for my small business. Working 12 hour days to keep up with clients while trying to stay afloat has kept me from finishing almost an entire year of paperwork. Additionally I would utilize NEATDESK to enter all receipts for the past 10 years, allowing me to analyze sales, increases in cost of goods, client buying trends, etc., allowing me the time and ability to improve my current business practices. Thanks for the time and consideration.
Regards,
Brian
April 1st, 2010 at 11:46 pm
I have a progressive, disabling neurological disease…but the really scary thing is the massive amount of paperwork it generates! I’m drowning in receipts for medical care and prescriptions, health insurance claims, and other records. Filing papers and retrieving them from a file cabinet is too difficult, so all year long I throw receipts in one box and records in another. Whenever I need a record, I have to look through the whole box, and tax time is a real nightmare. I’d scan all of my other documents, too. It would make a huge difference in my life to get rid of all the paper and have everything on my Mac.
April 2nd, 2010 at 12:02 am
I would use the NeatDesk to help me scan any bills, receipts or important documents to my Mac Mini Server - where they would be safely stored. Once on the server, I would use FileMaker’s Bento to help me organize how I view these documents. I would make it a goal to scan all documents towards the end of the week, and recycle all the paper to help the environment. This would make life so much easier and help so much when tax season comes.
April 2nd, 2010 at 3:02 am
Now that I just had my 3rd (and final) child in January, Neatdesk would be the perfect gift to complement our new tax deduction. With 3 kids aged 4 and under the house tends to get messy, I am constantly having to go through receipts for the doctors visits, prescriptions, household purchases and everything else that haunts the box of receipts that we have labeled Monthly expenses and Yearly expenses.
So, while avoiding the Olympic style obstacle course of toys may tend to avoid turning the house into a home, at least we can rename the room we call the paper pit back to an office.
April 2nd, 2010 at 3:08 am
Sounds like a quick and easy way to get paper records into digital format. Even if you keep paper reciepts, it would be easier to search them on screen. Looks like it would be easier to use than a flatbed scanner too!
April 2nd, 2010 at 3:55 am
We’re moving back across the ocean in less than three months - we need to clean out our desk and lose the weight for our move! We’d love to digitize it all!!
April 2nd, 2010 at 5:26 am
I need it to locate the information in scanned documents.
April 2nd, 2010 at 5:50 am
I cannot survive without my portable Neat Receipts as my “Paper Monster” attacks with rthe most ferocity when I’m travelling. Now that I have seen the desk top model being used by the dozens in a local medical center I’m convinced of their rugged reliability. I’m saving for one.
Besides, having the desk top model would save me having to connect and dis-connect my portable Neat Receipts everytime I travel.
April 2nd, 2010 at 6:00 am
I neglected to mention in my above post that tax time is never simple. Records saved in Neat Receipts save hours of sorting thru files and piles of pages, credit card and cash register slips. All my deductable expense documets can be catagorized and added quickly.
Last year I saved a full work day.
April 2nd, 2010 at 6:29 am
I would like to put all of my invoices/receipts into electronic form. I would also like to put expenditure receipts into digital format for convenient storage.
April 2nd, 2010 at 7:16 am
NeatDesk could save my marriage. Every year my wife and I are at odds. Where are the papers and receipts we have accumulated over the year? Countless hours are spent locating or sending for duplicates. NeatDesk would allow us to keep those items at our fingertips. After 37 years of ‘wedded bliss’ I fear this could be the last if we do not find a solution or at the very least, be civil during tax time.
April 2nd, 2010 at 7:39 am
I would stop paper filing. WOW!
April 2nd, 2010 at 9:17 am
I’m in the process of starting a small business here in Mi…the great state of no jobs…and already i find myself searching for reciepts…(i wasn’t so great at keeping my receipts organized for our household budget to begin with, and now i’m adding on small business stuff) what, am i out of my mind!?! This would help my small business take off, and keep my receipts as NEAT RECEIPTS right from the start!
April 2nd, 2010 at 9:29 am
I have a cupboard full of receipts and documents, most of which I do not require a hard copy off. I am hoping Neat Desk will allow me to get rid of all of the and only keep a copy on disk. I think paperless is the way of the future and its high time I dived in.
April 2nd, 2010 at 11:28 am
The paper monster is currently running rampant in my home office. I’m ready for NeatDesk to save me from disorganization!
April 2nd, 2010 at 11:33 am
I’d use NeatDesk for Mac to turn this:
messy
mess_mess
mess_pile_mess
mess_confusion_mess
mess_disorganized_mess
mess_headache_stress_mess
into this:
*NEAT*
April 2nd, 2010 at 12:07 pm
I would use this wonderful accessory to remove the clutter from my home-office desk. This would help greatly and help to keep me more organized instead of fishing through loose paper for important documents.
April 2nd, 2010 at 12:45 pm
I used NeatReceipt and upgrade to Neat Desk (win. version). I like the features that the software & the hardware provide. The new version of Neat Desk has a cool feature of scan the file as PDF or directly to the database. 2 things that I don’t like - database must stay on C: drive, that is limited; and the lack of transporting receipts to other application.
April 2nd, 2010 at 1:26 pm
My office looks like a it experienced a paper blizzard. I clean it up and organize, and within a week I am knee deep in paper again. NeatDesk would be the answer to my less than fastidious organizational habits!
April 2nd, 2010 at 2:13 pm
Being a retired senior citizen, I could use any help I can get with my memory. Getting all this paper off of the floor and filed away in my computer would be wonderful. Please enter me in the drawing for a Neat Desk.
April 2nd, 2010 at 3:54 pm
It’s so much easier to keep job expense receipts through out the year in one place and come Tax Time, just print out everything on a couple of sheets for taxes. Not to mention storing all this info on CD or DVD in case of audit years later.
No more little receipts ever where or clipped to my desk till the end of the year.
April 2nd, 2010 at 4:26 pm
I sold my first business after 30 years - and have over 200 boxes of records! Had I owned Neatdesk I most probably could have kept all these records in a 4″x1″.5×7″ space on a 2 TB hard drive and not be spending $90.00 per month in storage.
I am starting a new company and will definitely use a high speed scanner as part of my filing/storage system. As I use both Mac and PC I wish there was a cross platform unit.
April 2nd, 2010 at 5:12 pm
Neat Receipts would be my electronic/virtual bookkeeper. I look forward to less data entry and more family time!
April 2nd, 2010 at 10:01 pm
I have HUGE piles of medical paperwork from 7-Doctors, 3-Hospitals, 2-RX suppliers and an Ambulance Company. They all relate to each other but I spend all day trying to find the three that I need together at that time. If I could afford one I’d take off walking to the store in a minite. It’s two blocks over the pile by my front door.
It sounds like a great product.
April 2nd, 2010 at 10:02 pm
PS, I forgot three insurance companys and a collection agency
Rjon
April 3rd, 2010 at 11:37 am
Since I am a pack rat, I still have receipts dating back to 1996. I’d love to reclaim the physical space that is eaten up by the documentation I retain for tax and other purposes. What can I say? Seven years may be the rule but there is always the chance that I have to go back further.
April 3rd, 2010 at 12:57 pm
I’m the office clerk for Chaparral Labs. Inc. We have a lot of documents that are all on paper, and we have literally 7 file cabinets (4 drawers each) that all are nearly full of documents just from the last 12 months. We also have an entire room dedicated to archiving previous years’ documents, and we currently have about 75 boxes in that room, all full of paper. The Neat Desk would help us drastically. Many of our documents which we currently have in paper could easily be turned into digital, searchable documents, saving us a lot of space and paper.
April 3rd, 2010 at 3:51 pm
My desk is so cluttered that I can’t see the wood of the desk, just papers and wires. It gets very hard to do taxes on my desk, as you have absolutely no room for stretching. My dad who does most of the taxes stays in the office for almost a whole week, only coming out for meals and sleep. The NeatDesk will make our desk neater (hence the name, NeatDesk) and it will help everyone in our family see our father more often, as we barely see him anyways.
April 3rd, 2010 at 7:09 pm
I would use the Neat to be better organized at our small school setting. At the present time we haven’t any budget for anything other than the bare essentials. It would be great to have a clear desk and a quick way to retrieve all of the purchases orders that we use in a year. It would be great to win the Neat to be neat.
April 4th, 2010 at 7:10 am
My main use for Neat Desk would be in conjunction with Quicken. Imagine being able to save a DIGITAL copy of all receipts.
April 4th, 2010 at 8:01 am
I have four full file cabinet drawers of paper files that I would like to digitize! This would be a tremendous kick-starter for me to start this project!!!
April 4th, 2010 at 11:57 am
College = organization disaster. Classes, projects, service groups, meetings, internships, …., and check book balancing. Every time I meet with a new contact and get a business card, it stinks having to type in all of the information to log the person on the computer. A Neat tool would be spectacular so I could instantly complete a contact file and sync it between system, email, and phone. And about that huge pile of receipts sitting next to my desk… If someone turns on the fan, I am doomed! Please save my workspace and make it neat so we can turn on the fan when it gets hot this summer!
April 4th, 2010 at 12:29 pm
I am converting my full file cabinet of paper records into electronic records. After living out of the country for 2 years, I’ve seen the benefit of letting go of all that needless paper! Neat Receipts for Mac looks like the perfect tool for this approach!
April 4th, 2010 at 1:16 pm
I can’t begin to tell you how this would really liberate me from paper!! I currently itemize sales tax during tax time instead of taking the standard deduction! Yes folks! You know what that means! I keep every SINGLE receipt that we spend in order to itemize! I have 12 manilla envelopes in which everyone in the family “stuffs” their receipts. Then don’t put them in there neatly, but rather how they come out of their pocket. So, when tax time comes around — it is literally a NIGHTMARE!
I also started a small business and this would help me dividing church from state if you will. Since I opened an S corp — I will be itemizing those receipts as well!!
This would enable me to keep all my receipts in folders on my desktop and take it from there! If I ever get audited — I have it right at my fingertrips instead of searching through the 10+ boxes of manilla envelopes to get to the receipt I need. I would be able to put them in categories such as restaurants, groceries, etc.. I can only IMAGINE the ways that I can put this to work!!
So, this would be incredibly helpful for me and my family! I am an avid MAC user — ipod, itouch and just bought a new mac… so, this would just be icing on the cake!!

help!! The squirrels have taken my receipts and fed them to their babies, perhaps superneatdeskman can save me.
April 4th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
A Neat Desk would help me tame not only the tax paper-monster, but also my school files. A teacher’s life is full of student writing samples, thank you notes, and other mounds of paper. I’m drowning in paper, but a Neat Desk would help save me!
April 5th, 2010 at 10:03 am
The NeatDesk scanner would certainly simplify my life! As a freelancer, keeping receipts and records for tax-time is always a challenge, and with the help of the NeatReceipts system, I could eliminate paper-clutter and maintain all of my records right on my computer!
April 5th, 2010 at 11:08 am
I’ve become a decluttering fool, but I’ve still not been able to conquor the Leaning Tower of Paperwork - neatdesk would make MY desk a neatdesk! Dreams can come true!
April 5th, 2010 at 2:01 pm
This is the answer to my dreams and stop my nightmares. I could scan all my receipts and also reams of bills dating back 10 years taking up yards in file cabinets. I could then shred and recycle all the old stuff. Ahhhhhhhh…….such a relief it would be!
April 5th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
For years I’ve been battling the Paper Monster and it’s time to tame the ugly beast. Boxes with all my receipts are pushing me out of the office and I am sick of it. A NeatDesk is the critical lynch-pin in clearly storing my original receipts and papers so that I can shred and recycle them. Plus, external hard drives are the easy and environmentally friendly way of reducing my carbon footprint and saving the forests. Using a NeatDesk, I’ll tame the beast, help save the planet, and save myself! Thanks.
April 5th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
One of the courses I teach has to do with the business of contracting. A simple method for small contractors to organize receipts and other documents would be a boon. I would use Neat Receipts as a training tool.
April 5th, 2010 at 4:20 pm
I have a hair salon and day spa and I drown in paper. My constant lament is “PAPER, PAPER, PAPER!” Invoices, receipts, and more everyday! I have to keep them for records but I have boxes and boxes in my attic that I would love to get rid of!
April 5th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
The paper monster has reared it’s ugly head at my home and office, slowing consuming every valuable piece of unused real-estate. Slowly working it’s way out from my desk like a hungry blob. I need the neatdesk, I need a cure! If I could I would place the exiting document tray right over my shredder and let those bills, statements, and receipts flow into a shredded existence of recycling to be born again as something useful, like a check!
I have a home Office and travel monthly, I also run another side business so you can image come tax time, I have hell to pay, and Uncle Sam. Neatdesk might help be get on the positive side of the tax bracket with it’s efficiency and organization. I might finally save a few more trees too
April 5th, 2010 at 4:28 pm
My wife and I have moved quite a few times over the past few years, and we recently just moved into a brand new house. Tagging along with us on all of our moves are boxes, file cabinets, and more boxes full of recent and historical financial and health-related documents. I would LOVE to never move these boxes again, so NeatDesk seems like it is the answer to my prayers!
April 6th, 2010 at 9:57 am
My workmates and friends always pick on me for carrying around a rolling lockable box full of my documents that I have to work on, along with the myriads of post-it notes that I use. Having the opportunity to put a Neat Desk in to my life would save me - 1) physically from lugging all this stuff around 2) security wise so all of my info could be saved on an encrypted disk image, and be harder to anyone to take 3) making my life calmer and more organized - with less clutter - I could fell better about any task I am up against - especially my taxes - having all my tax docs archived digitally would make sorting/grouping & totaling a breeze - then I could get my taxes in earlier and get my refund faster 7 get on with living life. I could have one massive shred party after Im done and eliminate clutter
April 6th, 2010 at 11:13 am
I read about “NEAT RECEIPTS” IN Sky Mall magazine two years ago and determined it was just what I needed to keep my life in order and free of paper. I bought the mobil scanner in the Atlanta Airport and have enjoyed freedom from paper and freedom from the hustle and bustle of tax time. It is a must have at my house. I regret that I did not buy the desk top version.
April 6th, 2010 at 1:48 pm
I have used Neat products for over 2 years. At tax time, my total time commitment used to be hours and now with Neat products, my time commimtment is minutes. Thank you for the wonderful product and keep up the good work.
April 6th, 2010 at 3:42 pm
Neat Receipts will make my office look like the office of my dreams.
April 6th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
Seriously if you saw my desk this would be a no brainer-I have receipts stuck by the printer-in files under my feet etc. etc. what a mess I have tweeted @ap66215
April 6th, 2010 at 9:07 pm
I will use NeatDesk to keep all my receipts organized for sales, purchases, expenses and such. I have been wanting one for so long. I finally upgraded my computer so it is now compatible with all NeatDesk can do. I love the fact that the IRS likes the format that NeatDesk is in. No longer will I need a file cabinets just for receipts.
April 6th, 2010 at 11:09 pm
After working for 32 years in an industry that historically THRIVED on paper piles, with a Neat Desk, I would eliminate every single piece of paper in my home office, have everything organized in my laptop and tax time would be a joy for me AND my friendly tax preparer! Then I would retire, concentrate on all the amazing products that Apple has and I would be forever free of the clutter and could start living a life of fun and creativity!
April 7th, 2010 at 9:31 am
My husband & I have a small home office - our desks are cluttered with our paper trails. I think his is worse, but I am not far behind. I am the family tax person so in Feb. the office is a whirlwind of paper. When I used a PC I used PaperPort to control my paper clutter. I almost fell out of my chair when I received the email about NeatDesk for Mac!!! With NeatDesk I can finally reclaim my working surface and become the clean and neat side of our office!
April 7th, 2010 at 9:31 am
I am a stay at home mom and take care of all bills and paperwork in the family. This would be an excellent way for me to be able to scan all my desk clutter into the computer and never have to search for something again. My husband is diabetic and has tons of medical records for tax time. By using the Neat Receipts I can have all the medical information at my fingertips for easy access. I love technology products and this would truly make me paper and clutter free!
April 7th, 2010 at 10:17 am
I am a glorified procrastinator small business owner who despises bookkeeping and all things “numbers”. It is April 7th, and as you can imagine, I still haven’t started to attack my paper monster. Actually, paper monster is an understatement. Just the thought of having to go through all these receipts I have accumulated over the last year make me want to break down and cry and set my office on fire. And the worse thing is that I have been accumulating receipts since January 2010 and, you guessed it, it has already become a baby paper monster. These things reproduce! Who knew… Please help me tame my paper monster and pick me! I promise I won’t set my office on fire if you pick me…
April 7th, 2010 at 10:38 am
We are on the road about 3/4 of the time with our small business. Its essential to not accumulate papers and receipts. Its a major factor between a business that “works” and one that does not. Neat Receipts is the best option out there.
April 7th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
By getting this machine, I can eliminate an entire room filled with papers. That would be awesome!!!!!
April 7th, 2010 at 2:45 pm
I co-run a start-up consulting firm, plus am a mom and a wife. My house is flooded with paperwork! This product would help with not only tax receipts (which we have lots of!), but also personal things as well. I think that this would also help me keep some of my daughter’s artwork, without allowing us to drown in papers!
My file cabinet overflowith, but this would definitely help control that!
April 7th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
After I relocated with my husband into an old fixer upper-which is not anywhere close to being renovated-we had to squeeze two home offices and a living room into one small room. Along came a baby so I purchased the NeatRecipes system to help, but the only option at that time was the mobile scanner. Needless to say, it is buried somewhere on my desk and was used only once as I am now juggling a two year old and a newborn when at the computer. (The newborn is in one arm now as I work on taxes making it hard to dig out.) I could really, really use the NeatDesk and maybe I will get my taxes in on time for once. I know the NeatDesk will be the answer to my prayers for better organization as I struggle through the first years of parenthood and a paper nightmare.
April 7th, 2010 at 6:05 pm
I would love to own a NeatDesk to help me beat the paper monster once and for all. Right now, I keep almost every piece of paper that might have useful information on it, but finding that information is impossible when I need it, so the paper is ultimately of no use to me. I would love to be able to scan in all my receipts and bills. I dream of being able to call up any data I need whenever I need it and not have to go digging through piles that I have sorted but do not have time to file properly. After weeding out obvious junk and recycling it, I end up with piles of potentially useful stuff, but it is not useful to me sitting around in a pile where I cannot find it.
April 7th, 2010 at 7:15 pm
Scanning my medical receipts and tax-deductible business expenses would be a great time-saver at tax time. No more searching for those lost receipts and the desk would be neater also! I love the idea of not saving any paper, but keeping everything digitally with an online backup service. The only problem I have now is my scanner is very slow. NeatDesk would be a great addition to my home office.
April 8th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
I juggle many hats(professional, head of household, independent contractor, mentor, caretaker and assistant). Working in a “paperless office” I’ve come to depend on having all the information I need at my fingertips. During tax time I would love to have that opportunity at home with NeatDesk!
April 8th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
I have looked at desktop scanners for the past couple of years and KNOW that one would make my life so much better. I have a videography business and also work part-time as a Communications Director. Lots and lots of paperwork flows through my hands and most of it would be better off in a digital file. I would have a happy desk!
April 9th, 2010 at 7:53 am
NeatDesk would be a blessing in my home. My (rather large) family is all about saving the planet and recycling; we have been for over 30 years. I already recycle paper (use the back side of everything - including flyers received in the mail), but my little office area and file cabinet are frequently overwhelmed with important documents and paperwork. Everything from income tax, household, healthcare and Social Security Disability documents for our sizable family (the federal government’s Paper Monster is alive and well) to college financial aide forms for the kids must find a home in my 5 ft. by 5 ft. “office” space. Often, these important papers are either temporarily misplaced or forever lost as family members dump them on my desk or on top of my little 2 drawer file cabinet when my “Look At Me Now This Is Desperately Important” box (a shoe box) is full. Having NeatDesk in my home would provide peace of mind and lighten my work load in ways that defy words. Family members could scan important papers, rather than trusting them to the shoe box system we currently use - which frequently results in lost paperwork and requests for deadline extensions that are peppered with apologies from me as I frantically search for the misplaced forms and documents. I would be able to enjoy more quality time with my family and extended family, and less time plowing though mountains of paper when I need to work. NeatDesk is a luxury we could never afford, and most certainly would put to very good use. I would love to reduce the mountain of paper in my shoe box and file cabinet to zilch with a NeatDesk scanner!
April 9th, 2010 at 11:16 am
Keeping track of all those receipts just drives me crazy. I would love to be able to scan the receipts and then be done with them. Also, the receipts start to fade so scanning them would maintain all the information making it much easier at tax time!
April 9th, 2010 at 6:39 pm
As a freelance video camera operator & editor, I’ve been thinking about starting a small boutique company. I’ve been looking at Neat Receipts for well over a year, but haven’t gotten around to purchasing it yet even though persuaded several others to. After this tax season, it’s become very clear that I need to separate my professional & personal accounts as my pro expenses often end up on my personal credit cards. My home office was once a place of creativity now over taken by papers & receipts everywhere. Needless to say, It’s hard to be creative when you’re constantly reminded of bills and budgets. It’s all too easy to get caught up in the minutia of accounting. I dream of the day where I know exactly where my business & I stand financially. All I want is quickly scan those suckers into my computer & let Neat Receipts take over. I’d then streamline that by backing it all up to an off site server in the clouds ( i.e my Apple Mobile Me account for all you militant Mac users ) where I can access everything on my smart phone at any given moment. I’d take that over having to bear the droning of the copy machine for an hour only to have to go & file everything manually. SEAMLESS & PAPERLESS!
April 9th, 2010 at 9:44 pm
I can’t even worry about the office, because my wallet is totally stuffed with receipts for all the money I used to have. When the wallet gets too big to put in a pocket I throw out most of the mostly illegible receipts. If I just had a convenient way to record the receipts and file them, I might even be able to start working on my 2008 taxes.
April 11th, 2010 at 8:51 am
My 5×8 office/den/pantry/storage_room is maxed out. Anytime I can get rid of paper and virtualize my important information is great - to be able to do just that, quickly, easily and reliably would be fantastic!
April 11th, 2010 at 2:32 pm
Oh, god, this would save me! Drowning in paper (for a private person), not enough space. 2 Filing cabinets full and more to keep. Previous attempts to scan records unsuccessful - too often the software for scanning and file formats would update quickly leaving previous work unavailable. Form factor is great, reducing desk space needed - and I could finally get all my business cards filed and imported to Address book! My wife would finally be able to help input receipts, making monthly reconciliation almost painless, to say nothing of tax time.
April 11th, 2010 at 4:01 pm
I will use NeatDesk to find my desk (if it is still there). Too many business cards, all of which I seem to need but can’t find. Not to mention other misc. documents.
April 11th, 2010 at 4:28 pm
NeatDesk may just be the organizing tool I will use. I’ll sort through the mass of papers, scanning & archiving the important ones & discarding to recycling bins what’s not. Anything that has personal info will be shredded. NeatDesk used routinely will help reduce the clutter & manage my data. (But, I think I’ll need a larger hard drive before I finish.)
April 11th, 2010 at 4:53 pm
As a marketing professional that travels 100% and lives in a hotel I don’t have room in my life ( or my luggage! )for shoeboxes of receipts. I already have to manage my receipts for expense reports, keeping personal receipts would be way too much. When it comes to tax time though I know I am missing out on deductions I could have taken and frankly, could really use. I need NeatDesk not to tame an office but to control the chaos of my life on the road. From one organization junkie to the other ” I need the good stuff.”
April 12th, 2010 at 1:34 am
I would ditch the multiple shoe boxes/envelopes. Not having to shuffle receipts and then transfer to spreadsheet or worse…calculator would be a welcome change.
I would also organize key family papers including the children’s school work!
April 12th, 2010 at 9:06 am
I’ve been throwing my receipts and other tax-related papers into a month-by-month accordion file under my desk. By the time I fish everything out, it still needs to be sorted and added up. And I still lose things, don’t ask me how. All that handling is so time consuming, and there’s room for human error! Would love to just scan things through the year and pop them into Turbo Tax and be done with it more quickly, efficiently and accurately!
April 12th, 2010 at 3:34 pm
I have file folders FULL of receipts and papers, and that’s just for THIS year. I would dearly love to catch up on my saved papers and then move on to take care of those from last year and the year before that, etc. The only way to handle this is by filing them electronically and then shredding the paper. Now that my taxes are submitted for this year, I can hardly wait to get started. It could be fun and oh, so satisfying.
April 12th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Wow! A chance to trash the filing cabinet.
April 12th, 2010 at 5:49 pm
AHHHHHRRGGGHHH!! I HATE TAX TIME SO MUCH!!
I’ve pulled out my last hair, I need Neat Receipts! Please Oh please oh please! I’ll scan all my receipts like a good boy, I promise! I’ll scan my wife’s receipts, I’ll even scan our dog’s receipts. I’ll be a receipt scanning fool!! Tax time will never be the same again . . . wheeeeeeeeee!!
;o}
April 12th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
I just finished my taxes and they would have been easier if I had been more organized.
April 13th, 2010 at 8:46 am
Me? I would use it to try to save some money at tax time. Right now it is such a daunting, time-consuming task to track all of my expenses for deductions that I simply do not do it. I fully suspect that if I diligently tracked all of my receipts, I would save far more on my taxes than a system like this would cost.
Another thing I would attempt to do is use it track my receipts to figure out where my money is going. Often seeing this kind of information is enough to get me to change my spending habits for the better.
April 13th, 2010 at 7:40 pm
I always throw all of my receipts in a file cabinet labeled taxes for that particular year. In April I spend hours sorting medical bills, taxes, etc. With this program I can easily search all of my reciepts track where and when I am spending money and then copy them over to my accountant.
Another thing that this software would be great at as saving reciepts. How many times do you want to file a warranty repair for a product only to be rejected as you did not save the receipt from a year ago! - no more!!!!
April 13th, 2010 at 8:46 pm
What a great invention. I love the way it automatically fills in the forms!
April 13th, 2010 at 11:31 pm
The House of Monsters!!
It seems like an ordinary small bungalow in a semi quiet area of the large city. The only thing that makes it easy to find is the enormous gothic cathedral that sits just across the way on a hill, its towering shadow over this house which leaves an impression of overpowering dread. You’d never know it unless your senses were honed, until after you entered, and by then it is too late, you have entered a House of Monsters!
It’s October 14th, and the last tax deadline looms over my head held by just a single hair strand of only a few hours remaining to get through it all - like the Sword of Damocles yet dangling over me in the form of boxes and boxes of paper ready to fall on and bury me alive!! Yet it is not this year’s deadline – it is the very Final Tax Extension Deadline from three tax seasons ago – and the Tax Refund that I will lose forever if I fail to get it done by the next morning hangs in the balance!
Every year in the fall, as the trees shed their brown leaves, the wind and rain storms begin then the resurrected Frankenstein monster of paper arrives. It’s ALIVE!! Finally I am forced to spend weeks agonizingly going through the pieces of this undead monster - the card board boxes filled with papers, the bills, digging around in this monsters body for the lost mortgage statement or the W-2 forms, and through the yearly expand-a-file filled to the brim with all of the thousand plus paper receipts from three years ago (so long ago that many of them faded to the point of being unrecognizably useless), I try desperately to piece it together and calculate my income and all my expenses. And there I find myself, working all night long always right up into the morning of the appointment with the accountant on the last day to file – trying to finalize these financial numbers.
Once I am finally done and the completed tax form has been hand delivered to the local IRS office (because it’s too late to take a chance mailing it) I swear I will kill this relentless living dead paper monster once and for all by the next year. Yet the slips of paper slowly accumulate again over the year and eventually the paper parts of this Frankenstein sit boxed in cardboard waiting to be resurrected to life once each year only to terrorize my household for weeks as the final axe of the taxman’s deadline hour solemnly approaches like the executioner waiting for midnight to arrive at a state prison’s death row.
Then there’s the paper Creature that lurks in the Dark Attic and Basement Lagoon of my home, he’s the most insidious as he never goes away – always there day after day, month add up and followed by year after year he just grows larger, stronger and meaner. The card board boxes piled upon boxes of unfiled disorganized papers – my cases, the projects, assignments, community board documents, work records, legal papers, meeting notes and minutes, important personal documents and records all sitting taking up space waiting to be filed. It all just lurks there in the dark depths of the creatures’ realm growing ever so slowly larger all the time in the basement and attic lagoons.
Of course if I tried to face off and confront this overpowering scaled creature, I have nowhere near enough space in my office for the file cabinets it would take to get it all organized and filed. And if it were filed how would it ever be retrieved again. And if I need to find something important that I have misplaced or moved out of the office into the realm of this creatures habitat – Good Luck ever coming up for air when diving into these lagoons to try to find it!!
Of course I procrastinate and avoid facing it – the Fear; I am completely overwhelmed by the ferocity and magnitude of my documents being in the clutches of the gilled mouthed creature, better to leave him alone to his own devices in the dark depths of the attic and basement lagoon of my personal paper Amazon. Yet even though hidden from the site of most others except the other human residents in this House of Monsters, his presence haunts me all the time because I know he’s here just laying in wait to get his clutches around me, and he knows I lack the tools to unable to rid my house of his evil presence.
Then there is the paper Werewolf that resides in my office room. More pressing and current than what’s been relegated out to the Lagoon, these papers pile upon each other until they cannot be found. Then about as often as the moon becomes full and rises in the night sky, this hairy wild fanged creature returns and has to be fought off with abandon while everything is turned upside down to find some missing document or receipt or something is needed for a pressing deadline.
This Wolfman is unrelenting; he also sneaks in when I least expect it or when I am away and brings with him a month more of accumulated important papers and receipts and piles them somewhere into the huge stacks of what has already taken over every available inch of office space. I have no weapon nor the silver bullets needed to stop him.
And then just when I finally try to gain the upper hand and fight back the fatal paper sucking energy Vampire arrives in its dark cape with its sharp fangs out poised to suck the life blood out of me whenever I even begin to confront the other monsters, leaving me paralyzed in his hypnotic trance of avoidance and procrastination.
Help me Neat Desk!! I need to get my documents out of the dark depths where the lagoon creature lurks so I never have to venture there again. I need the tools to enable me to electronically file all of the cases of paper so I can find whatever document I need through the word search ability feature and save all the storage space so I never have to place boxes of papers where this fearful creature resides.
You have the power to provide me with the weapons and the silver bullets needed to end the monthly Werewolf visits once and for all by inputting those incoming receipts and mail into computerized files so my desk is clear and my office space can finally be at last used for work instead of storage for accumulating piles of paper. By providing the tools to handle the papers monsters would improve life so much by eliminating the fear of losing the records and putting all these vital documents at my fingertips electronically, then I can fend off and defeat the monsters and drive a stake through the heart of the paper Vampire of energy that causes me to avoid dealing with what seems so frightening and overwhelming.
At last, the specter of the annual Frankenstein monster will finally fade from existence as I can get caught up on my tax returns and can file my return in April of the next year, so I don’t have to spend countless days and hours trying to go through three year old financial records to meet the impending tax deadline. I will with your equipment be able with the simple stroke of a keyboard to tabulate summarize each years’ financial expenses. Yes, you appear to be the ultimate weapon I need to help save me from the enslavery of this awful House of Monsters which I unfortunately (like Dr. Frankenstein) created and from where I currently reside.
April 14th, 2010 at 9:46 am
I have filing cabinets & filing boxes galore, yet the papers are still on the tables & floor.
I am so overwhelmed & lately life is not too much fun, but I can’t get to step two without conquering one.
What a blessing it would be to have all my papers digitally scanned & put into files, all on the computer & none left in piles.
With “NeatDesk” I may have time to maybe even join in a sport,
If I want my prescriptions, tax papers or recipes - I’ll just run a report!
I won’t have to pay anyone, like an organizing technician,
because I will have “Intelligent Text Recognition!”
I’ll be saving all my insurance records, tax records, manuals & warranties, newspaper articles & magazine clippings, those too if I please.
I will save my kids pictures, their homework & report cards too, I’m going to save EVERYTHING that they’ll EVER do.
I’ll know where all of my important certificates are when I’ll want them to read, be it Marriage, Divorce, Death or a new household deed.
Never again will I be left in the lurch, I’ll find everything by KEYWORD or SEARCH!
I think my favorite option will be when scanning my receipts & my invoices marked paid, because I love the idea that they’ll never fade.
I can’t wait to use the ADF which holds all types of papers, 50 pages in one space, then identifies & organizes them, while scanning them into a database. (oh yeah!)
How did I make it without ever knowing, that I can run reports & track where my cash ISN’T flowing.
All the people I’ve met & the one’s I will meet, it’s hard to keep them all in a book, but their images, address, numbers etc., I can save & then sort them all through “Outlook.”
This “NeatDesk will be wonderful I can almost guarantee,
SOON I CAN MANAGE MY TIME SO IT WON’T MANAGE ME!
Without all the clutter a happier person I’m sure I will be, just one thing “NeatDesk”
PICK ME, PLEASE PICK ME!

My one true fault - I keep every piece of paper and receipt. It’s so bad that I started moving files to work from home becasue my wife threatened to burn everything. My marriage could use a NeatDesk, my accountant will have to get his own! He makes me pay more because I always have too much information to sift through. I need a break! I need NeatDesk!
April 14th, 2010 at 5:30 pm
I have quite a bit of paper in my life, and my having a better way to store, organize, and retrieve it could make that life much more rewarding. Alas, as I have just paid my taxes, I have no money to put towards a new anything right now. That being said, $199 is a small price to pay for a simpler life, so I will be buying a NeatReceipt scanner as soon as I can afford it. Thanks in advance for such a wonderful product, I already know that I’ll love it as soon as I get it!
April 15th, 2010 at 11:55 am
There are SOO many reasons a NeatDesk would benefit my life - and others!
1) My poor accountant just called me frazzled to get my return done. NOT HER FAULT. It takes so much time to rifle through the bags of paper saved for taxes, and my stress snowball just ends up in my family and accountants lap!
2) Oh, and the business cards that have piled mile high to be entered? Ya think there’s some money-making business in there somewhere?
3) So, my friend the fireman came, and wanted to condemn my office as a fire hazard.
The list goes on and on! Help me NeatDesk??

I just completed my tax return and what a nightmare it was to look for all reciepts and still find half the charitable donations I made and I could not take deduction for those. I have lost receipts for items purchsed and as result could not return them when I needed to. I think it would be lifesaver and lot less bickering.

As a teacher, the NeatDesk would simplify my everyday life. With nearly 30 students, just imagine the paper work I receive daily. From doctor notes, nurse notes, bus notes, social work, government forms, disciplinary forms, lunch notes, lunch charges, field trip permission slips, and love notes, just to name a few. I am over loaded with paper, and to be able to organize all of this data, would be a dream come true. I would be the envy of the school district at the end of the year when I have to file all this data.

As an Independent Sales Representative, I travel everyday. I am required to keep every receipt I get. This includes receipts for meals, fuel, lodging, utilities, office supplies, phone bills, cell phone bills, Internet fees, office maintenance, vehicle maintenance, and the list goes on. Having just finished my taxes this morning after a struggling 22-hour fight against the paper monster living in my truck, home, and office. I am praying for a NeatDesk, as the real life headache is starting to taper down.

Wow, that poem by that Julie person was really good. People started writing poems after that, I guess that does show the sincerest form of flattery. All the blogs were good but that one made me smile.

I finished my taxes last night and was so overwhelmed I couldn’t settle down enough to efile them. My husband went from an employee to a contract employee last year. I wasn’t aware of what all it took to complete just the home office part of the taxes. All the papers to go through and the recordkeeping. I am afraid we will never get this right.
I just heard about NeatDesk yesterday. Reading about it sounds like it would have been the answer to my husband’s recordkeeping and my tax filing anixety attack.
I finally filed my taxes, but I had trouble clinking the send button, my son had to do it for me.
This NeatDesk will be the answer to my prayers.

I want to tame the paper monster and stop missing out on tax deductions because I’ve stashed the receipts here, there and everywhere and never find them all until after I’ve given up and filed.

Simply put, I NEED A NETDESK. From national trade show where I could immediately organize new contact using their business cards to keeping up with fuel receipts, meal receipts, supplies and invoices. I will put NeatDesk through the works and my word of mouth testomny has already accounted for two sales, and yet I still don’t have one.

I am trying to go paperless but don’t have a good system - only scan to pdf and then file the pdf somewhere. Plus, my receipts are still piling up in a box. NeatDesk would be a HUGE improvement.
