Designed to Perform

November 13th, 2008

NeatReceipts and NeatDesk are our first original hardware designs, and while we love their clean, modern look, we believe function is as important as form. NeatDesk is built for speed and jam-free scanning, designed intuitively for the way we all sort and organize our paper.

NeatDesk has been selected as an Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Award honoree by the Consumer Electronics Association. The esteemed Innovations Design and Engineering Award selects winners based on:
• Engineering qualities, technical specs and materials used
• Aesthetic and design qualities
• The product’s intended use/function and user value

The Neat Company was granted design patents on both scanners in October 2008. Design patents may be granted to companies or individuals who invent a new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture. They protect the aesthetic properties of the product. The United States Patent & Trademark Office issued the patents on the basis that the aesthetics of the Neat scanner designs are novel and non-obvious in the scanner market.

Further validating the superior design, NeatDesk and NeatReceipts were both honored for superior hardware at the 2008 International Spark Design Awards, winning the coveted Spark! Award in October 2008. The Spark Awards is an international design competition recognizing new processes and technology from designers and companies large and small. More than 360 entrees were considered for the 2008 Awards with only 17 awarded the coveted Spark! Award. Additionally, NeatReceipts’ sleek new look landed it a spot alongside other Smart Design clients in Fast Company’s annual Masters of Design issue.

Game 5, Part 2

October 29th, 2008

A few of us at Neat were lucky enough to get tickets to the historic Game 5 of the World Series. And we’ll be going back to the ballpark tonight to root root root for the home team – if only for 3.5 innings.

So we thought it was a good opportunity to show how Neat can help you preserve precious memories.

Paper tickets fade, get lost, get ripped and sometimes, they even get rained on! But a scanned image is immune to the elements. You can organize your scrapbook items digitally and not have to worry about keeping tattered old pages in usable condition.

So the next time you have a newspaper clipping, a World Series ticket, or even ticker-tape from a parade, scan it and save the memories forever without worrying about delicate little pieces of paper.

Go Phils!

Philadelphia 100 and Philadelphia 1-0

October 23rd, 2008

We have a lot to be proud of at Neat. And his morning, we have a few more things. Last night we were named the #7 fastest growing company on the Philly 100 list. This marks our third consecutive Top 10 finish: #1 in 2006, #4 in 2007 and now #7 in 2008. It is hard to grow at a very rapid pace, but even harder to do it three years running.

And perhaps more importantly, the Phillies won game 1 of the World Series. Go Phils!

Let’s Go Phillies!

October 21st, 2008

To celebrate our Fightin’ Phils making it to the World Series, we are extending a special offer to save on any products in the Neat online store. You don’t need to be a Phillies fan to take advantage of this great deal. We’re just so excited, we wanted to share the love.

From now until the end of October, take 10% off any order at store.neatco.com with coupon code: Phillies

We’ll even scan our World Series tickets so we can save the memories forever!

Offer ends 11/1/08. (Hopefully we’ll have a parade around that time.)
