Position Description

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President-Retail Sales is a member of the company’s executive team and  is responsible for overall channel management and revenue growth of Neat’s indirect sales channels.  He/she will direct the efforts of 10 – 15 independent manufacturers’ rep groups and manage the relationships with all North American retail accounts including office supply stores (Staples, Office Depot, Office Max), wholesale clubs (Costco, Sam’s) and other retail accounts.  Overall management and revenue generation activities for direct sales including corporate accounts, web accounts, and kiosks sales.   The ideal candidate will have several years of progressive experience selling technology products through multiple channels with an emphasis on retail and must be a hands-on manager who is capable of creating strategic plans and willing to execute them with limited resources.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Channel & Account Management – develop channel strategy and operational plans that ensure effective execution.  Periodic review of those plans with the operating team.  Create effective trade policies that minimize channel conflict and maximize merchandising support and brand exposure.  Supervise rep groups and directly manage select accounts.  Negotiate and document seasonal sales programs.  
  • Leadership & People Management – lead through strategy and influence vs. direct supervisory structure.  Must have ability to direct the efforts of rep group principals to ensure goals are met as well as negotiate effective sales programs with retail buyers and managers.  Must be able to evaluate, motivate, and hire key sales personnel.
  • Revenue Generation – meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue goals by generating effective retail merchandising strategies, improving retail shelf presence, increasing retail advertising and selectively improving distribution.
  • Sales Planning & Forecasting – create sales plan and provide weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts.  Work closely with supply chain team to ensure appropriate inventory levels at retail and internal warehouse. 
  • Trade Funds – maximize the use of market development funds (MDF), rebates and commission to drive profitable sales revenue.  Create detailed system to allocate, track, distribute and recoup retail marketing funds.
  • Pricing Policies – work with CMO to create effective pricing policies and ensure all retailers and distributors comply with policies.
  • Reporting – provide regular management reports to ensure executive team is aware of key channel activities and how they impact marketing, development, finance and operations. 


Required Education, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, or related field
  • At least 10 years of senior-level experience managing retail partnerships
  • Ability to manage at both the strategic and operational level, must be a doer first and a delegator second
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Strategic thinker with pro-active problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate plans in writing using Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Attention to detail, high energy and proactive leadership qualities.
  • Experience with and/or high-level of comfort with marketing and selling technology products 

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel frequently in the United States and Canada
  • Preference is to be headquartered in Philadelphia office; at minimum, must be willing to spend 3 – 4 days per month in Philadelphia office.
